Is It Possible To Map Keyswitches an Octave Lower?

Hi Friends,

I have an 88 key controller and the keyswitches would work better for me if they were closer to the Mod Wheel. Is there any way I could map the keyswitches an octave lower without affecting the placement of the actual violin note mapping?

Did I ask a stumper? Or is this too basic that people are rolling their eyes saying, "read a manual or something."

Let's try it a different way. Is this something that can be mapped at the Keyboard controller? the sequencer? the strad vst? Or all of the choices? Or is it simply impossible?

Is this simply a midi question or is it intrinsically related to the Strad programming?

If you point me in the right direction, I can figure it out.

This is a very reasonable question. On some keyboards, as with my Elka MK 76, it is entirely possible to remap selected ranges, say C0 - B0, an octave upper, and this is probably what you need.

Conversely, you might use Midioxe, a free midi utility. It allows to remap any midi parameter. Option -> data mapping -> insert -> event type = note on (and subsequently insert -> event type = note off). You may choose an input and an output range. Set them according to your needs, and it should do.
