View Full Version : convert giga 3 libraries to giga 2.5?

hi it's my very first post here.
escuse for my bad english.
i've got the yamaha c7 from vintaudio in giga 3 format.
i tried but no luck converting them to giga 2.5.
any suggestion?

I don't think you can do this as the giga3 sample libraries are normally 24 bit, whereas giga 2.5 does not work with 24 bit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Conversion from Giga3 to Giga 2 is as simple as selecting the "save as Gs2" option (GS3 downsamples all wavefiles to 16 bit on the fly) but.....
the GS2 file and instrument dimensions architecture is limited to less dimensions. So you'll have to manually adjust the number of velocity layers and other dimensions to fit in the 32 dimension limitation that is the limit for GS2.
Velocity is one dimension (8 layers is 8 dim)
Stereo is a dimension.(x2)
Sustain pedal is one (x2)
Release sample is one. (x2)

A 8 layer, stereo, sust and rel piano can not be created. 8x2x2x2= 64 dimensions and can not be made in GS2.

it looks like a hard work for me to do though.....:o
maybe i should consider upgrading my gigastudio to 3.X:D
