I cannot for the life of me get this stupid kontakt 2 to fit properly! The view is too big I cannot read the lower portion of the screen nor the right portion! I've tried the options, interface and changed all the pixels lower with no results.
Any clue? Anyone please?
I'm not sure what you are missing, but there is a "view" option at the top of the screen which allows different size screens. I hope this is useful.

Thanks. The view option is set to smallest. Regardless of any setting the view is the same. Small, medium, large the view is the same. I have two flat screen monitors 15" and the player covers one, into a third of the other and the bottom of the player where the keyboard shows is beyond the bottom of the monitor screen. No matter how I set up the monitors the player view remains the same. I suppose NI takes it for granted everyone has a 52” Flat screen LCD HD Monitor!
I think I am going to write a nasty email to NI. :D

If you click the Options button you can set your own size (in pixels) for each of the small/mid/big sizes in the Interface section.

Styxx,
If I run K2 w/o a host I can move the screen to a workable position. If I use DP as my host I lose the bottom of my K2 screen. Can't seem to fix it.

Styxx, have you ever tried to contact them via phone? I've had a problem registering NI software online - tried it for hours and spent some times in writing mails and that forum stuff. The phonecall solved the problem in a minute!

Strange. You tried a monitor resolution like 1024 x 768 or even higher (as your monitor can handle it!)?
I'm using Cubase SX, when the resolution is set to 1024 x 768 I can't see the color chart above on the right side. Strange, isn't it?

With the gracious help from Brian2112, we were able to reset the resolution setting on the monitors and k 2 with some adjustments fits. However, being that I have 15" monitors ... I HAVE TO USE BINOCULARS TO READ ANYTHING OF ANYTHING! :D
NI has to wake up and do something about this shortsighted bug. I gather none of their beta testers have a monitor below a 20" LCD? Well will you fancy that? Some of us have all the resources.
I went to bed with a splitting headache and blurred vision. I don't know if I can continue with such settings for long. I wonder if they make some sort of magnification lens one can put in front of the screen? :)
Nonetheless, I am so grateful for every ones help and suggestions. Brain2112 especially.

OS X has a built-in magnification lens. I have two large monitors but I still use it all the time when I use programs that are designed too small!
Go to your System Preferences > System > Universal Access. There you can turn Zoom on. The key commands are listed there. Learn them. It's a lot of fun to zoom in and zoom out on stuff! I have the keys memorized and use them daily whenever anyone sends me an e-mail with the text far too small!

15" monitors are becoming a thing of the past. You can now purchase 17" LCD monitors for under $200 and the 15" are not much cheaper these days.

And styxx get a 17th screen, even better get a 19th cause soon 17 will be too small i think.

Also, keep in mind Styxx, that monitors are a LOT cheaper than they used to be. I am seeing 20' monitors for what 15' ones used to go for just a few years ago.
I understand the cash issue bud. I just lost my sound card and my computer desk collapsed. I may have to buy two new flat panel LCD monitors myself. Anything less than 19' for this kind of work is pretty tough to use. We deal with a lot of screen info and real-estate in music production.
Hang out next to the public school nearest you and beat up the kids for their lunch money - that's my plan.:( :D

Yes, I was talking about Mac...sorry, I'm pretty much a Mac-only guy...
I'm sure it's possible in Windows too but I would have no clue how. If it's not already in Windows, I'm sure someone has written a third-party solution somewhere...

Lunch money, hehehehehehehe HA! That may not be such a bad idea seeing kids have more money these days than parents. ;) OR, may I can interest Sting in a piece of music? :D
I may call the people I purchased my monitors from and see if they have any trade in programs. Did I mention my monitors are 17"? Still, your idea of 20" flat screen LCD HD PRT Government Air Force Stealth F22 Raptor Dual Core Video Ready 14 Bazillion Mega Pixels monitors with Night Time Vision 50X Binocular View is something worth looking into.:D

Well it works with GS3 so it probably will with NI Kom......But I'm not sure it's exactly the same as mac
anyway thanks!

I had to readjust my displays and now K2 fits nicely. The only drawback is the smaller font size is hard for me to read. It is taking some time to get used to but I do like how I can fit more windows into the monitors.
I need new glasses anyway so this just gave me the incentive to start saving.

I would like to thank Joseph Burrell for sending me the current updates to K2. I installed them last night and it did seem to stabilize the Strad during playing. However, if I push the Strad hard enough it will cut out. Mind you I have to PUSH it to a ridiculous end. I haven't had much time with it and I will work with it more tonight.
Thanks again J.B. for your thoughtfulness and help! :)

I had my monitors set to 800 / 600 before I installed K 2. What are you working with pc or mac?
PC = Start, control panel, Display, settings tab. Set the "Screen area" to highest resolution. The font is small but I actually got used to it and can read it fine now. Contact player fits nicely.
I'm at work now and K 2 has a setting as well you may have to fool with. It's obviously not in front of me to recall correctly.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply Styxx, I'm on PC. This is really strange, at 800x600 kontakt is too big, at 1024x768 kontakt is too small, it seems that you can not fit it perfectly into the screen:confused: , frankly i fin that...well i fin that stupid:mad: . i want to use it as standalone and i want it to take all the screen so that the fount is as big as possible. I love GIGA for that, you want bigger fount- you tell windows and that's it, but kontack,,,grrrrrr!
Other than that, i think i really like that software, hell i think i even like the color...
So can i have bigger fount without using the loop?
And can i have it fit the screen completely?
Thanks!

At the moment I'm really mad.
K2 has increased his power consumption dramatically independed if I run it as stand allone or plugin.
I loaded a projectfile of about 32 instrument (different articulations) for a cello concerto by Haydn, I got a power consumption of about 50% no instrument playing.
As soon I start playing the consumption inscreases up to 100%.
This on a 3.2 GHz PIV with 2 GByte RAM.
The same piece Overture together with GS3 got a maximum of 38% CPU load.
I think I'll give up working with K2.

BTW this Haydn score runs without any problem with Independence (as plugin n Overture) too.
Nearly the same CPU load like GS3.
Maybe I should switch from K2 to Independence for smaller project.

Yeah, hard to believe, right? There's a thread in this post that explains how to make it a bit larger to fit your screen better. Plus, I heard the updates help equalize the font in K 2. Quite frankly I am very disappointed in K 2 on the issue of CPU consumption. Just with SSV loaded I can easily max out over 100% and that's when it dies. At the moment I have no idea what to do with it. Tonight is the real test now after installing the updates. I bought it for the soul purpose of using SSV. Should have waited for the bundled SSV with K2 player. I have K 1.5 and that served me just fine.

Mad? Why what ever for? :D
I hear you and can relate. Why such a power hungry piece of software? I was all set to go out and buy a more powerful PC with hefty LCD monitors and stopped myself. I'm going to go out and spend another one to two thousand dollars just so I can run K 2 and see it better? Man has to feed the flock! Eh, here I'm rambling making no sense again.
Here's offering you best of luck me friend! You deserve it. Hang in there it does work for others. We must be missing the boat somehow, way, shape or form. Besides, I hear there is another upgrade on the way that addresses the power consumption issue.:)

I hope.
With K1.5 I didn't have that kind of problems.
I think it is the scripting language, which causes that CPU consumption.
I will wait for the update to K 2.1 and if this update doesn't solve the problem I will ask Intel for the Pentium IV quattro!

Yesterday after writing the last mail, I worked with K2.
In the middle of the loading of the instruments with an *.nki I got a blue screen.
After restarting the computer GS2 doesn't start again.
All native instruments products (Absynth, GPO, K2, String Essentials and so on) asked me for a new registration key, because the system confuguration should have been changed!
System recovery did not work.
Every week I save a image of my DAW with Acronis TrueImage.
But TrueImage told me, the backup files are corupted.
Too many troubles on one day.
This happened to my PC at home. Thank god I have a second installation of all programs on the PC in my studio.
At home I will install a new windows XP for my DAW but i will not install K2 again!

On this computer I have installed two different Windows XP, one which holds all Office & Grafik program, another one for multi media (GS3, K2, Independence, Sonar, Live, Overture).
The "office" works normal, the DAW is gone.
I'll mke a new installation after Easter because now I have to go out for a classical guitar festival, I'm a member of the jury of the competition.
BTW: On my second PC in my studio I have also Kontakt problems with the speed of K2. Maybe my scores are to big for K2 (mostly more than 30 instruments.) but my expierience with fx-freeze are not good enough.
And scores whoch run without problems with K1.5 do not run smoothly with K2.

Joseph Burrell was kind enough to send me the updates, which I couldn't download from N.I. site due to size and dial up. This issues I had for using GSSV seem to be solved. CPU usage is down quite considerably and for some reason I can load even Diva samples in with no problem. So far everything I used in K 1.5 I can use in K 2. I will stress "So Far". I haven't used it with Cubase since before the update where it froze everything trying use in one track.

Please let me know how it goes in Cubase. It doesn't. That is ... so far. Tried again last night after freezing tracks. I couldn't use the Strad at all. I would play a few notes and it would cut out completely. I am sure it is a processor speed issue. Until I am able to upgrade to a faster cpu I'm afraid K2 and The Strad will have to be use as a stand alone.

I'm running 2.66 and it seems to be enough for K2 as a stand-alone. I am going to try to do mix the Cubase file to CD, and then play the Strad part along in real time recording to Cubase on a new file. This I am sure will be extremely difficult when it comes time to put them all together on one Cubase file. I may even try ACID or Samplitude because they are more elastic. If this fails the next step is to take the files to my friends’ house that uses DP and Macs.
