Hello. I'm a student who is pinching for cash (as I should be spending my money on school/health insurance), so keep that in mind when I ask this question. How does LD Bundle compare to Prominy LPC, which I purchased in the last group buy. Is there much overlap? How easy is it to lay down simple rhythm guitar tracks?

I love the demos, though already owning LPC and being strapped for cash, I'm looking for honest feedback (feel free to PM me :)

Lets see: I produced LD and don't have LPC.... so here goes my un-bias comparison:rolleyes: :o :D (so I hope I don't upset anyone, my apologies if I do)

Both guitars are constructed very similar: mahogany with maple tops, glued necks. Both guitars are "No! you can not play my guitar!" type guitars

LD uses a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier for a modern sound, LPC uses Marshall 1959 for a classic sound. Both amps are exceptional amps.

LD has the lower drop tuning of todays guitar songs, Low drop A, the lower octave powerchords are dropped powerchords. LPC is standard E tuning.

LD has 2 guitars for double tracking found in most rock songs. LPC's focus is on one guitar.

LD is 24bit, LPC is 16bit (but, I'm not gonna get into that debate)

LD fills 2 dvd's of uncompressed samples. The articulations focus on commonly used techniques in rock guitar playing. The idea behind LD was it had to compete with a real guitarist, it had to be just as simple as picking up the real thing to make it worth while.

LPC I believe is 30gb for the amped version. It has nearly every possible articulation in guitar playing. while there is an advantage to this, I also feel there is a disadvantage. Unless you're a virtuoso guitarist, most of the articulations will never see the light of day. Keep in mind you're paying for these un-used samples and they're filling up your hard drive. So if you strip down LPC to the commonly used articulations, it's massive size is brought down to LD.

Both LD and LPC are great libraries, the real advantage is to have both.... no different than having Steinway, Yamaha, Bosendorfer piano samples

LD is priced very reasonably everyday, this GB makes it a no brainier.
The biggest advantage is LD GB comes with GunslingerA.D. for FREE! LPC GB didn't:p :D

Thanks for the help and better understanding of your product Aaron and Bela. The library looks great, the demo's sound great (even fred's quick Gunsliger demo sounds great!) Looks like I have a big decision on my hands. :)

(btw, any way to get the full information on what was used to make the demos, e.g. straight out the box, reverb, what patches were used, what was used for bass & drums, etc. Just curious, as they sound really good :)

Yes, I often add a little extra distortion on leads for LD 1 and 2 (you would typically do this for a real guitar as well, because when you have the amp set for a crunchy overdrive with powerchords, the single notes don't drive it as hard) and I add delay (again, on the leads). The rhythm chords are usually just unmodified LD sounds.

Seriously, though, so many sample libraries are now producing (directly or via third parties) K2 multi/scripting enhancements, but (other than old-school VSL, with its Performance Tool) I can't think of a single library boasting comparable Giga-oriented capabilities [pointers welcomed!!].

I am full-on hoping that:
(i) the currently-being-revamped TASCAM Giga tech support offerings (including but not limited to the soon-to-be-online learngigastudio.com website) will expose more users to the potentials of iMIDI scripting, custom .gsi/.gsp creation and the like, and generate additional interest in these capabilities on the part of Giga-users (resulting in additional pressure on developers to take full advantage of these capabilities); and

(ii) more developers will take similar advantage of Giga's extended capabilities, even if it means anticipating consumer outcry... it seems to me that catering to only one segment of the customer base (viz., K2 users) doesn't make tremendous business sense... or, at least, won't make tremendous business sense if K2's popularity someday wanes, or if Giga4 or GVI brings new life to the old guard...Me, I'm with Giga for the long haul -- prior library purchases have ensured that. Giga-friendliness is something that I am required to consider when choosing between comparable sample libraries...

Anyway, the demos sound great -- the Gunslinger materials, in particular, sound quite tasty. I hope that there is room for me, and those like me, in the Bela D long-term bizniz strategy... :cool:

To be fair and/or to clarify, we do support GS3. All of our products to date are native to GS3. We will do our best to make certain that GS3 users can achieve the same, or near the same, control as those who use the Kontakt version of Lyrical 1 and 2.

About the LD1 and LD2 demos on the website... do the guitar sounds in those demos represent, more or less, what the samples sound like out-of-the-box, or is a separate amp-modeler/simulator (like Amplitube, Guitar Rig, etc.) necessary... or even just "strongly advisable"?

FredProgGH (http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/member.php?u=6133)'s "Gunslinger AD Demo" was pretty impressive, and he says that he used "no processing added AT ALL but for a touch of room reverb," so that's a good sign...

I'm just trying to gauge what an LD1+2 purchase will *actually* entail... and whether I'll be able to more-or-less approximate the sounds I hear in the demos, out of the box (or after some basic EQ'ing, GigaPulsing, or maybe even Giga Dynamic Expression Filter-ing), or whether I would really have to factor in a few hundred dollars more for an amp sim, before I'd be able to rock properly with those guitars...

Absolutely not! The only time the composers used an ampSim was to add additional distortion on lead parts.

LD 1 and 2 is a Custom 22 PRS® electric guitar, recorded through a Mesa Boogie® Dual Rectifier amplifier. That is one slamming guitar rig. No ampSim can come close!

On the flip side. LD is not overly distortred. This allows the user to add more. Its always better to add then to try and take away.

As Aaron pointed out early in the thread, the Dig Deep (http://www.beladmedia.com/ld1/dig.mp3) demo is 100% out of the box.

That's right, the extra overdrive can be added using K2's internal effects as well as the chorus and delay. Plus, Gunslinger has that extra meat out of the box. You would have more control getting a real amp simulator down the road, but you can get the sounds you're hearing without one.

Nope, I have no spam filtering (which is actually a real pain in the butt), but I do get my emails.

I received, like the other gentleman a few replies up, just the confirmation and receipt that I entered and paid for the group buy. Nothing else. The money was also taken out of our account, so I know it went through!

VERY playable, IMO. You can always get more out of it if you go back and edit, but I did all my lead parts r/t with just a pick/hammer multi that uses a footswitch. And that was before the new K2 scripted multis, which are just insane- every articulation in one patch! That one takes some practice but again the basic stuff is easy- the pick/hammer is now controlled by legato playing and I don't even need the footswitch anymore.

Playability using the Kontakt 2 multis is a strong suit of this library (and I haven't had the chance to check out the new multis yet).
