COOL COINCIDENCE:
Just as Gary is working on the Rimsky-Korsakov/GPO orchestration book online, the Indianapolis Brass Choir programmed a BRASS-ONLY version of R-K's Capriccio Espagnol last Sunday, May 7.
Here's a snippet of the opening scene. I am playing the main theme on euphonium at :13 and :41 or so.
Violins? Violas? Cellos? Basses? We don't need no stinkin' violins, violas, cellos, basses!!!
INDY BRASS--CAPRICCIO ESPAGNOL (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/overture-users/files/RK INTRO.mp3)
The best bits in the euphonium part are kinda masked by the trumpets, but it was a fun part to play!!
