David,
Thanks for doing this soundset. I was unaware of this undocumented feature in Sibelius.
Will you be able to run both GPO and JABB instruments using your method?
Thanks for doing this. This will be an enormous benefit to Sibelius users. I hope you also post this on the Sibelius forum.
Please accept another invitation to come to Club JABB on Orcas :)

David,
This looks pretty amazing. I have a question though. Can this be used with Sibelius 3 or with just Sibelius 4. I was hoping since you have written plug-ins with GPO studio in mind, that I can use it with Sibelius 3. That would cut done my work load alot!
Here's hoping!!

Thanks so much for posting this David.
I was sent the following message from this forum and suddenly felt ashamed, tail between legs, like a guilty dog. So I thought I'd better say thank you to someone:
Hello Henry, it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?
... but actually, I do mean thankyou! A great time saver.

Requires Sibelius 4.1. This is the first version of Sibelius that creates GPO contoller messages.

I just downloaded the soundset and put it in the sounds folder, and I can't find it on the menu. How do I access it from the soundset menu?

Similar to how you do it for external GPO. Use the studio application and select the Jabb soundset.
See these instructions, but in step 3, choose JABB.set.

I'm unclear on the concept of soundsets, so if someone could enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. What functionality does this bring to Sibelius that wasn't there before? Why is this such a great thing?

A Sibelius Soundset is a file with a set of descriptors that tells Sibelius how to interpret an instrument for a given midi device (be it a hardware midi device or a software instrument). It also defines a set of default sounds for an instrument.
The soundset eliminates the need to do midi programming when addressing a device in Sibelius. It makes it look like a logical entity rather than a physical one. For instance a violin in one physical device may require certain programming of that midi device to make it work. Another device may require different programming. In Sibelius, you pick the soundset (e.g., GPO or JABB or some synthesizer) and the instrument (e.g., a violin, a piano, or an oboe) and the soundset provides the midi programming.

Thanks dbudde, I'll give it a shot. I've been using just the included Kontakt Silver sounds just for simplicity's sake, but it would be nice to increase my quality level with this new soundset.

Does anyone have a similar soundset for GPO, or at least the Sibelius Edition soundsets? It is supposed to work the same way with regular GPO, isn't it? By the way, the JABB soundset is awesome.

The Sibelius Edition soundsets are what you get when you buy the crossgrade. So it wouldn't be cool to just share them. You might want to pick up a copy. It's only $50. Well worth it.

Does anyone know where the GPO sound sets install on a PC? I'm trying to use this plugin, but I can't find the sound set. I have sibelius 4 and the GPO crossgrade.
Also, can one use the new Kontakt 2 Player instead of Kontakt 2? I have Kontakt 2, I'm just wondering.
Thanks,
Jonny
