Hi, I have been running a thread in the listening room about a live performance recording of mine. I could really use some help and any advice about solving a few problems and questions I have. The following is a link to the recording.
This is the entire string section performing the piece. Please remember that there will be "gaps" in the recording from taking out the winds and brass.

My biggest problem is trying to figure out if (1.) are they playing out of tune most of the time? or (2.) does the orchestration need to be worked on?
Thank you for any help, opinions, advice, and feed back you could possibly give. If it is me and the way I write and orchestrate then I need to learn and improve myself. But my "gut" is saying that it may be a mixture of both poor performance and some compositional errors. I could even post the score if you would like me to.
Thank you....
Sincerely,
Michael

Hi David, thanks for the response. Well, I don't believe so.. if I understand "quarter tones". Could you elaborate a little more?
Thank you...

Well, I would like to see the score while listening. Since you are in something of a quandary, it would help us to know what you intended from this piece, making comments more directly useful. For instance, if you intended for it to be smooth and mellow, and it was found to be strident, or vice versa, comments would be more meaningful and helpful.

Thank you. I would have no problem sending a score but the question, I think, is not that complex. Think of it like strumming a guitar. Are all the strings in tune?
I will try and post a simple MIDI score, unless someone has Overture 4, and post it. It will be only MIDI note... no articulation marks....
Thanks...
