Gasp - this will take some interesting work. Can't connect with the MP3 in first four exercises.

Am I the only one who has the last two letters or so of each line cut off? It's still readable, but a bit annoying.

Hi

All seem to be working now, except the last exercise file - says it has been moved.

BTW Exercise in thirds and sixths Brass melody has a D flat fourth note from the end. Same Winds melody does not have the flat. Does it matter for the exercises?

Just reached the end of this lesson, and I also found most of the files for the last exercise are missing. Although, the one remaining file - the dry mp3 - suggests the MIDI is almost identical to the melody in the basses exercise from lesson... whatever it was. Three, I guess. Anyway, dead links - just FYI.

Hello Gary,

it seams that some of the links in lesson 9 lead to a dead end:

Aleksandar,

I am glad you found a hosting solution that works.

Your lesson 9 examples are very well done. I particularly like the Violins, oboe and clarinet in unison. You certainly have a grasp of the lessons.

Keep up the the good work!

Well, too many exercises here to post all of them. But the last turned out particularly interesting. Due to the start of fall classes, I've been away from the site for a couple weeks, and just came back to find myself in the middle of an exercise. Well, two weeks ago I was deluging myself in Wagner, Tchaikovsky, and, of course, RK - but now I've been listening to rock radio on my car stereo every morning, and, darn it, I want something that moves. Enough with all this pastoral crap. :)

So I replaced the original melody with a rhythmic figure for pizzicato bass, doubled by bassoon and contrabassoon, plus some percussion and harp. That, I decided, was pretty cool, but not strictly a melody - more of a texture. So I put my melody back in, performed on a Bladerunnery, metallic sort of synth pad. The viola part was also replaced by the synth.

The result, followed by a version without the electronic melody, so you can hear the actual exercise:

EDIT: That's odd... the message board keeps filtering V~~~~~~~'s name. I had to misspell it to get it to show up. Why is it doing that? Is it a naughty word in some language?

greatgreybeast,

This is good work. I like the rhtmic enhancements you made. Certainly brings it to the 21st century.

Thanks for posting this  version of the exercise.
