EWS88 MT and EWX 24/96 are now multiclient!

TerraTec has just released multiclient GSIF drivers for the EWS88 MT/D and EWX 24/96.

These drivers allow to run GigaSampler/Studio
and ASIO at the same time with very low latency.

support IRQ -Sharing, produces a lot of clicks and pops with VIA mobos, clicks
and pops with Gigastudio anyway, still crashes with Cubase and Gigastudio !!!!

VIA seems to have a massive problem with the 686B southbridge. It\'s verified in many cases for the Soundblaster Live, but also for other cards that use DMA transfer (as the EWS88 MT).

Via has allegedly already produced a bugfix that will hopefully end up in some BIOS updates.

There is some more information on the German VIA homepage (It won\'t help you though :-( if you don\'t understand German...).

You have to switch on and configure GSIF multiclient mode in the new ASIO ControlPanel.

Please note that the channels you reserve for GSIF are still visible in the ASIO app.
Don\'t use them in ASIO.

Vice versa for channels reserved for GSIF.

all right..., the \"BLIP\" dude is typical for the terratec customer support. If you have a problem with their products ( and you will, look at this and other forums...),they\'re telling ya some not problem correlated semi logical nonsens. The VIA -Problem Mr. BLIP
is refering to, may only occur when the first AND second IDE Controller is active.
The Problem of the Terratec EWX 24/96 is differnt. Even with only SCSI on board you will get clicks and pops. IT IS A DRIVER PROBLEM. And the newest are BETA and you still can\'t use an ASIO App, Gigastudio and a
Terratec !!!! There are no hidden setup tricks to solve that problem. Just wait a year or so for the next driver update.

what card may I use to work with both Cusase Audio VST and GigaSampler ?
(I bought a DMX, then I changed for a EWX, then I discovered ASIO and GSIF are not compatible so they are multiclient drivers, and so on... I want to work music but not technical polemics)

Hi Olive,
first, as terratec support wrotes, don\'t use a Terratec with a VIA mobo. I use the following setup which works o.k.:
Abit VIA KT133A mobo 1GHz Athlon 512 MB Ram, EGOSYS Waveterminal with NEW E-WDM-drivers, a SBLive.

but have some problems i have two sound cards; one is ewx24/96 and maxi sound home studio pro 2; conecting spdi out from maxi to ewx i have sound but running cubase there is no sound and the sample rate blink 24kh 41kh each 30 seconds.
in logic audio i can not use gigasampler error PC AV.
In audio device setup configure virtual device one for maxi and one for ewx Out B giving Out A for gigsampler but do not work .

I think you have a configuration problem. Let\'s find out what it is, here are some questions:

Are you running Cubase with ASIO or MME?

Did you check if the EWX inputs are muted?
(ASIO Direct Monitoring does that at startup)?
Do you use the same Cubase ASIO outputs that you reserved in the EWX ASIO ControlPanel?

Don\'t worry. The EWX is always perfectly in sync with the external clock. It\'s only the samplerate display!

Do you use ASIO drivers in Logic?
Did you start Logic from within GigaSampler?

Before run cubase, put terratec mixer in external master clock 44,1Kz and then i can ear the sound from spdif in from maxi sound card, i can ear midi sound and wav sound no problems here but...running cubase i have some problems:

* Are you running Cubase with ASIO or MME?
cubase is running with ASIO EWX24/96 driver in audio setup propierties

* Did you check if the EWX inputs are muted?
digital input it is not mute

i do not understand this well, the cubase out are both terratec and maxisound. In ASio Multimedia set up i select output port EWX24/96 Wave play analog A and Dream Wave 1
and Input Port EWX24/96 WaveRec analog and Dream Wave Record and run simulation and there is no problem here but i have a problem in detect buffer size in EWX24/96 WaveRec analog (Input Port)only in this point

For Logic Audio is diferent problem here i can not work with gigasampler and logic but i can work with external spdif audio (cubase do not work)

no, i use EASI MME and in the control panel the same config as cubase both inputs and output from the two sounds cards
* Did you start Logic from within GigaSampler?
well if star logic and then gigsampler; giga do not work; if run giga and launch logic form giga PC AV error -10703

OK, now I get it.

because you want to use both soundcards in Cubase/Logic you use the ASIO or EASI MME wrappers.
Please note that these wrappers open the sound devices as MME devices.

However, the EWX GSIF driver can only be shared with the ASIO driver.
Anyway if you want to use other software synths ASIO gives you much lower latency.

You have two options to handle this:

a) You use the EWX alone:
Then activate the GSIF multiclient mode in the EWX ASIO ControlPanel.
In Cubase/Logic you have to select the EWX\'s ASIO driver(\"ASIO for EWX 24/96\").

b) You run GigaSampler on the EWX and the sequencer on the other card.

i\'ve taken the \"GSIF multiclient\" beta driver and the controlpanel v 1.03.25.110 (for ews88,ewx2496).
trust me it works!! no bluescreens, latencys etc. at all. i\'m doin\' cubase5 r4 and gigaLE.
i\'ve tried gigastudio160 too, but no way, so i returned to 16bit LE.
it might be that terratec has built the driver just for gigaLE, because its included into the ewx24/96 bundle. may be i have to update gigastudio from my current v2.011. but i won\'t spend my whole time in to this crap.
if there is someone out there, who\'s got gigastudio and cubase together, post it!

ALSO I GET THE 24 - 44,1 PROBLEM SOMETIMES!!! i\'m using just 1 ewx. think its a driver problem. customersupport @ terratec is crap.

it is NOT just an display problem!!
if u using cubase as slave the master is gettin a wordclock error. any suggestions?
