View Full Version : Better performance loading Cake 9 before GS

Recently I\'ve noticed something strange but important. I get much better performance running Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0 and Gigasampler together if I load Cakewalk first. The difference is not subtle: if I load Cakewalk first the system hums along but if I load GS first it slows to a crawl! This is only with Cakewalk 9. With Cakewalk 8, the order I loaded the programs wasn\'t important. If you try this, don\'t forget to setup GS so that it starts with the midi in disabled. Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know what\'s going on here?

The sequencers seem to be working better by reversing the order now. ASIO drivers may be the cause of the change. (not positive though) What seems to work best is to run the GigaSampler when you first boot up your machine. After that, you can see which method works best for you.
We will keep an eye on all this.
Take care
