No sound in Jazz and Big Band

Hi all, I have just got Jazz and Big Band after hearing some quality demos. I realise I should follow some tutorials which I'm happy to do but am slightly concerned that when I load some sounds I can't hear anything. For example, the upright bass is ok (and sounds fantastic!!) but I can't get any trombones to work? Am I missing something?
