Hi,

I have found two not so pricey convolution reverbs:

http://www.knufinke.de/sir

SIR is freeware and the developer appearently contributed to the Wizooverb later. It uses mono impulse responses.

A stereo convolution reverb is ConvoBoy from www.elevayta.com (http://www.elevayta.com) . It has a freeware/donationware edition and one with more options for about USD 20.

A very useful thread about high quality IRs has been posted in this forum here:

You know, I just got the Wizoo W2. I have other convolution stuff, but since it was cheap, I figured I try it. I still can't belive my ears. It may not be my first choice for "instrument" type impulses (like piano sound boards and so on), but for reverb, this thing has really impressed me. I still cant believe what I "think" I am hearing, but dare I say, it is the closest thing yet (barring Altiverb perhaps), that I have heard to...(again) dare I say...a hardware Lex.

Yes, that's cheap...! You wanna go out and buy a Lex, or even better hire a concert hall?

Well, I checked for you Nickie, and it seems as though the sale is over for now. Most outlets are selling them for $199 in the U.S.
$199 is still a lot of money for a plugin - but I think it's a good one.

Hopefully they will do the sale again.:o

Best,
Brian:)

... I also checked the wizooverb offer out but, if shipped to europe there would be USD 50.00 freight cost. Plus about 20 % toll and tax on both.

Pristine space (which is a download) from Voxengo.com is a great deal.
Even better you can get a more affordable version (no surround) in analogflux

PS has very good reviews in music mags.

I was also very tempted by Wizoo

I ordered Wizoo from a dealer on Ebay for $99.00US.

I had been using Pristine Space, which I consider very good, but Wizoo sounds much more natural and transparent. The wet and dry signal seem to blend much better to me. With both Pristine Space and SIR, I always had a hard time getting the right wet/dry mix. It was either too much reverb or not enough...and the wet was always seemed way too obvious. With Wizoo, I seem to be able to get a nice subtle blend that puts the sound in the space, but you notice the "sound" and not the reverb.

The presets are excellent, but there are some nice paramters you can play with. Even at $200.00US it's inexpensive for what it does. It's my reverb of choice now.

I think they provide also their own ir files. If they are almost as good as Samplicity, NumericalSounds, Gigapulse or even Altiverb then at 100$ it's a huge steal.

They do provide their own IRs and many are "true stereo" 4 channel. The provided IR files are spectacular. As good or better than the ones you mention. Of course, you can load your own files into it. It IS a steal.
