I read somewhere on here that the Audiophile 2496 card has no connection, either analog or digital, for a CD...true? In other words, you\'d have to have a seperate sound card to listen to a CD on the same machine?

It is true that the Audiophile does not connect internally to the cd rom but you still can listen to a cd. Simply download Winamp from MP3.com. It is free and it works great. Peace.

I don\'t know how it works. All I know is that it does. I guess the data travels the same path that data does when anything else is being read by the cd rom such as when you install a program using your cd rd rom. Peace.

The CD-audio interface is getting from IDE cable in \"Digital\" mode. just like how you play the wave files from harddrive.

If there\'s no connection internally, how does Winamp play it through the soundcard which is connected to the speakers?
