Gateway NX850XL & Tascam US 122 Audio Noise - Helllllp

I have set up what was to be my new portable recording system using a Gateway NX850X and a Tascam US-122...The problem....unbearable noise from the laptop. Every sound from inside the laptop is amplified and transfered via the USB cable. I hear the hard drive, the scrolling of the screen even when I move my finger across the touch pad. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any suggtestions??:D

I solved the problem and maybe this will help someone else. The power adapter is used to conver AC to DC. Somewhere in this conversion, some sort of interference was introduced. The solution.....A 3 prong to 2 prong convertor with the ground portion snipped. Thats it...no more noise.
