You've all had it, Machine gun. How do you all get around this? I need some really good answers. I'm posting a clip of what i need, but cannot seem to achieve.

EDIT: Something I thought of tonight, The JABB trumpets seem to have a nice sound when played in stacatto, but seem too...as Sean put it, "Squeaky" for Orchestral. Think EQ and a GPO Aggresive Overlay would help?

hi :)
Well, the only idea that I have would be to use trumpet 1 ens and trumpet 2 ens on alternating notes. Maybe the aggressive overlay on the accented notes. Sorry, it's all I can think of right now.
Good luck :)

Oh I dont forget em, just sometimes in certain passages, that actually becomes too noticable, and sounds unrealistic. >_<

Did you try varying the velocity of the repeated notes? Noone ever tongues with the exact same attack on every note.

That's an Idea. Seems to be helping so far =D
Ive noticed that I get better results when using shorter MIDI notes than using longer ones + stacatto notes. Hmm.

Have you humanized the timing so all the attacks do not hit simultaneously? Even if so, you might want to vary it a bit more.
Sounded like a snippet of Khachaturian for a moment but I don't remember that specific lick.

Tried that too. It helped! I guess I'm not happy with the actual sound I'm getting... it's hard to explain. Ill post a demo of what I've done soon to show you how it sounds thus far.

Don't know if you've already solved this or tried using the brass master class information from Garritan's sight to do so. Either way, here's the link just in case it helps:
http://www.garritan.com/tutorial/MasterClass_Brass.html
Description: This Master Class series shows how to make convincing brass renditions. There are sections on Imparting Dynamics, Using the Brass Overlays in Section Building, Avoiding the 'Machine-Gun' Effect and Making Horn Rips.

Another trick is using adjacent notes and pitchbending them into place every few notes, eg: g-g-g-g#g-g#-g-g-f#-g-g etc (and use half a step of pitchbend up on f#, half down on g#).
It's a pain and must be done manually with nitpicking precision, but the result was always worth it (in my works)
Cheers Matt
