I'm looking at a 750GB IDE drive that's 7200rpm, but with a seek time of 11ms. I'm a bit concerned that it might be a tad too slow for samples. The average drives out there these days are usually 8.5~8.9ms. What do you guys think?

No one has any experience with running samples on hard drives with 11ms seek time?

probably not, in either forum.... :D

But seriously, I'm also running a laptop with a Hitachi Travelstar 7k100 (7200 RPM) with about 10-11ms seek time, and don't have any issues. Depends on a lot of factors though - how much stuff you are running at once, fragmentation, etc. If you start having problems just increase the preload buffer.

I was told that 8.5 was the minimum to get...got it working with 8.9 but i don't know about 11...

...you could always try it and use it for backups if it dosen't work?...Backup is always good right?

Nice avatar btw.:|:
