Im very happy to announce that the great Kontakt 2 scripts for Sympathetic Resonance made by Kornel Mezo now are available for SampleTekks White Grand.
Heres how Kornel describes what his scripts does:
Piano sympathetic resonance model
Up to 7th overtone calculation
Handling of multiple overtones at the same time
Option to limit the calculation to dominant overtones only
Pedal up sympathetic resonance
Pedal down sympathetic resonance, an alternative to pedal down convolution - my original idea
Option to completely turn off pedal down resonance if it is not desired
Customizable attenuation of volume for each harmonic overtone
Optional self calibrating graphic display of resonating notes
Improved self mask algorithm
Correct handling of sustain and sostenuto pedals
The script operates in on/off pedal mode, but works fine if the pedal input is continuous
User interface to tune pedal down polyphony
Adaptive auto-polyphony control algorithm - my original idea
Improved handling of pedal down event while pedal up notes are held
Handling of silent key hits and silently held keys on the keyboard
Over 1000 lines of highly optimized , efficient code
Really, I thought that the White Grand sounded great before, but this script really, really puts the icing on it!
Thank you Kornel, (and Olivier & Xavier) for making these scripts! They are in my opinion, the funkiest thing that happened in sampled piano land since GigaPulse!
I bow my head!!!!
Heres some demos of the White Grand using Kornels script:
Demo 1 (Christmas is here - Played by Sue Keller) (www.sampletekk.com/proddemos/WG/WGK2ScriptDemo1.mp3)
Demo 2 (www.sampletekk.com/proddemos/WG/WGK2ScriptDemo2.mp3)
Demo 3 (www.sampletekk.com/proddemos/WG/WGK2ScriptDemo3.mp3)
The script can be downloaded from http://music.mezo.com/ where you also can find more info on how to use the script.
If you dont already got the White Grand, you can buy it here (www.sampletekk.com)

Holy Cow!!! This version of "Christmas Time is Here," is one of the best "sampled piano" recordings I have heard to date...if not THE greatest.
You have THE piano to beat in my opinion....brilliant work Worra.

Thanks JP! Kudos also to Sue Keller (http://www.rtpress.com/) for great playing.
Hi, Worra!
Do you know if we'll see a script like this for the Black Grand anytime soon?
Keep up the good work!

Just out of curiosity, will this script also work on the WG Jr. or is it strictly for the full version? Thanks.

in general : yes, because they share the same sample set, so most of the internal tuning will be close or identical.

Can you post those same songs without the script so we can better hear the difference?

Yeah! Life's good!!!!
Unfortunately life isnīst as good as it should be. After configuring my G5 during the last week I started yesterday to do some real stuff.
Playing the BG witout the script was no problem at all. HD and CPU almost didnīt notice that Iīwas playing such a huge piano (as I have 4 GByte RAM I assigned the maximum RAM to Kontakt within the DFD menu).
Starting with the script though ended in disappointment. Crackles, hanging notes, strange pure resonance sounds when pressing the sustain pedal......even when playing only single notes or three note chords. I tried to optimise the script according to Kornelīs reccommendations on his website but wasnīt successfull.
Are there any ideas out there what to do (change buffer settings within Kontakt?). I think my 2x 2.5 GHz G5 should be fast enough to handle the beast. I have all my samples on an internal SATA drive without fragmentation. What can I do better?

The Black grand version is not fully completed. Worra told me about some problems too.
Which perspective and patch were you using ? Please contact me in private email ( info on my web site ) and I will test with the same as you did.
Your hardware is defintiely better than what I have.

I did some testing with the Black Grand.
My PC is dual Athlon 1.4 GHz, 1 G RAM, 7200 rpm 8mb cache IDE
When I load the basic close #1 patch , do dfd tuning to best utilize my available memory and load a very demanding Rach midi file -> my PC is simply too old and slow to play the music :) with NO script
So, since the script is creating new notes , and it does not remove any of the notes coming from the midi file the picture is simple : you have just so much bandwidth to play new notes.
here is what you can do , pick the best that you can afford
- use 16 bit lirary not 24 bit
- tune down the script to smaller number of Rules, smaller Sysload
- buy more computing power , if you think about my example it is not even caused by the script
- remove all the release samples from the patch, the script ( 4.7 ) has piano release mode that kills the release notes anyways
I hope I helped

I have tried Kornelīs BG script extensively. First I have to say that the script is great and that Kornel is one of the nicest fellows Iīve emailed so far. Great support and very helpful in solving problems.
I have a rather fast computer (mac G5 2x2.5 GHz, 4 GByte RAM), nevertheless the Script didnīt work from scratch as I got lots of pops and clicks mainly due to the enormous amount of voices Kontaktīs DFD has to handle.
I switched the amount of RAM assigned to Kontaktīs DFD to the middle position of the slider within the Kontakt DFD menu. This gives you about 800 voices. Setting the slider more to the right doesnīt really help according to NI support.
Within the instrument options I changed the voice buffer to something like 122 kByte (instead of the 60 kByte default value) which gives the harddisk some more time to stream.
I tried to play with a low buffersize for my audiocard (RME) but 6 ms were not possible without lots of pops and clicks. I had to switch to 9 ms which worked rather well.
This script sounds great but itīs rather demanding due to the enormous amount of voices which have to be streamed simultaneously. Has any user out there (e.g. on a windows machine) some experiences about Kontaktīs settings to share here?
BTW: The White Grand script is much less demanding and plays well even without finetuning of Kontaktīs parameters. But the WG has less samples!
