I have the grand pianos which came packaged with Collossus and Kontakt 2 and wondering if I should spend another $200+ on a dedicated sample grand piano libray (such as akousitc piano or Ivory)

I know K2 and Collossus grand pianos sound great for a grand pianos which come packaged with a general sample library. However, do the K2 and Collossus grand pianos sound like 'freeware' compared to dedicated grand piano packages like Akoustic and Ivory?

Is it worth it? What do you guys think?

Well, they don't sound like freeware, but you get definitively better pianos in Ivory and AKP.

The main limitation of bundled pianos in general libraries is the lack of layers. Samples are goods but expressivity is limited.

FYI, with the current NI sales you can buy AKP for something like 170$ if you own K2. It's a good bargain for 4 pianos, recent upgrades have made this product mature.

Look at Worra's pianos (Sampletekk)

They are 50% off and about as good as they get. Much better than the ones that come with K2.
