Group Buy Rules.
A group buy works on ALL products from the SampleTekk store. The DirectDownloads can only be bought when the discount level is 50%. That means when 81 or more items has been sold, or on orders placed before January 10:th, (Early Birds)
The Group Buy offer is valid between January 4 and February 4 2006.
To join the Group Buy you make a purchase in our on-line store with the 50% maximum discount. You have then entered the Group Buy. When 81 entries are reached the 50% discount applies for all buyers and you don't have to make an additional payment. If the 81 buyers are not reached at the end of the Group Buy you will have to make an additional payment. This payment will be the difference between the lowest price you paid and the actual price as set by the discount percentage reached at the end.
You can buy as many different products as you like, but only one each. For example, you can buy 1 White Grand, 1 Black Grand and 1 Vertikal but not 3 White Grand.
By joining a group buy you agree to wait until the end of the group buy before receiving the product(s) and make the final payment if needed.
You can find the discount percentage matching each level of buyers below.
0-25 Buyers 10% Discount
26-50 Buyers 20% Discount
51-75 Buyers 30% Discount
76-80 Buyers 40% Discount
81 + 50% Discount
Both the entry and the shipping fee are non-refundable purchases.
When the final discount is reached (or when the Group Buy ends) we will ship the products you purchased. (Purchases made during the Early Bird period, ships directly)
All items are full versions and packed in CD/DVD envelopes

Sure it is! "Steiny D or Steiny D Close Upgrade path", for users that own Steiny D OR Steiny D Close, then it's only 50% of $140 = $70!
Is that a no brainer, or what...???

Question!!
Do you have a plan for direct download - TBO, and Black Grand other perspective. Vertikal Jazz perspective??
I don't want to get DVDs 'cause I should pay more money(tax, shipping cost).
Right now, I have TSO, and Black Grand close, White Grand and White Sister, and Vertikal Pop. And I want to get more!!
one more question, can you give the patch of WG Jr and Steiny D Close to user of White Grand and Black Grand close? TBO users get TSO patch.
So I think White Grand users sholud get WG Jr patch, and Black Grand users should get Steiny D Close patch.
I really love your pianos.!!!!

does it mean that i can use that upgrade path even if i own the FULL black

Worra pianos are all quite different compared to NI bundle, but IMO :
- White Grand if you want a piano that really *rock*. Far from anything else. No other piano compare to this one.
- TBO if you want to complement NI AP by a Yam C7... and one of the most expressive piano around.
- Then, well, if you are one of those "steinway D collector" : black grand is also a very acclaimed one. Maybe less "true to the real thing" compared to NI Steinway, but definitively a great character.
Happy new year to all :|: , and successful group buy to worra.

Ooops.... forgot that! Ok, I've updated the upgrade path so that there now are a "Steiny D and Steiny D Close, or Black Grand Close D/D Upgrade path".
That's $100 and with the 50% discount, $50....

Hi and Thanks!
WG Jr has the actual samples edited, so there's no way of actually using the existing White Grand samples directly. But I will make a "WG Jr" patch for WG users. That will be available for free from our site shortly.
The Steiny D Close is simpler and will be available real soon.
Problem with TBO as a DirectDownload is the size, over 10Gb.... Even if we have a dedicated server, we have to think about disk and bandwidth.
I'll have to think about the Black Grand Ambient and Medium...

About TBO being "and one of the most expressive piano around", all I can say is: "Line them up....:D"
No, seriously, depending what you mean with expressive, and that can be a subjective thing, TBO has 93 different samples/recorded note devided into 31 velocity layers. This gives you a dynamic responce that no other sampled piano, (even our own...), come close!

Hi Worra:
I have TBO GS3 version. I used a translator to convert this to Kontakt to use with K2. Most files translated and I can play in K2. But Here is the question I have.
Is there a TBO version specifically programmed for K2, and is that going to sound significantly better than the translated version. If your answer is yes, and I am assuming it will be, then is this upgrade given to registered TBO owners for free, or is there a crossgrade path
And if there is a crossgrade path how much for the crossgrade, and does the 50% discount apply to that. (I got an e-mail that said everything is 50%, so I think this would be included as well)
Thanks

Hi.
They are two completely different pianos. The White Grand is very much a studio product, a "design Piano". It's ment to work great in a mix or in a more contemporary setting.
The Black Grand is a Steinway D Hamburg recorded in a concert hall for the right ambience.
Black Grand has three different perspectives, so you really get three pianos. One close miked, suitable for more jazzy playing, one ambient, more classical oriented, and one that's more in between.
I'm preparing some comparing demos that I'll post here shortly.

There will be free updates.

Hi.
The E3 note are a bit off, but there good thing is that it's not off "internally". As you know, a piano note is made up from several strings. If the strings are off within a note, then your doomed. This one isn't, so it's a piece of cake to fix it.
I'm working on an upgrade for TBO including the tuned E3 and some other goodies. It will be available as free downloads!
Don’t worry about the "bum note", it will be fixed!
I would say that the White Grand is a great piano when put to use in the area that it was constructed for, IMHO the best there is for contemporary music.
But, I wouldn't recommend it for classical work, but I wouldn't recommend any playing Vila Lobos on a Stratocaster either....
TBO is a Yamaha C7, so yes, it's bright, but it's still soft since we used vintage Neumann microphones that allowed us to go close but keep it warm.
TBO also has 93 different samples/recorded note! This means that there's 31 samples pedal up, 31 pedal down and 31 release samples.
As you know, a Grand Piano is an extremely dynamic instrument, and our philosophy are that there's only one way to capture that in a good way = to actually record it with this many velocity samples.
You can play from extremely soft to raging forte fortissimo and get seamless transitions all the way up!

The 50% discount will show on the total when checking out from the store. Sorry that the price sticker doesn't show the discount directly, but it has to do with the store software, so if you buy TBO, the price says $200, but when you check out, you will see that you will have a $100 discount.

For someone looking for that close miked "Thomas Newman from The Shawshank Redemption" style intimacy, (in other words, a gorgeous, soul weeping piano. :D ) which piano would you recommend? I'm guessing Black grand, though I'm wondering if I can get away with just the close? I'm a poor college student and dont know if I can afford the full right now, even at this amazing price. :(

interested in the white grand and the black grand for Kontakt.
question:
if I buy the 24bit version does the 16 bit version also come with it?
currently my system could probably only do 16bit comfortably, but in a few months my new system should handle 24 bit...
so ideally I want both..

Since we have a lot of pianos, here's a chance for you to compare them.
As a demo, we used a midifile played by Sue Keller.
There's also a short description for each piano.
Nothing has been done with the demos, just the samples, straight out of the box!
There's other instruments then pianos available for the group buy, read more about those at www.sampletekk.com
Here we go:
TBO - The Big One
The largest, most dynamic sampled piano around
TBO Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-TBO.mp3)
Piano used - Yamaha C7 Grand
Size - 11.8 Gb
93 Samples/Recorded note, 31 Pedal Up, 31 Pedal Down and 31 Release Samples
Impulses for Convoluting included
K2 Script for Sympathetic Resonance available from 3:rd party developers.
Normal price $200, Group Buy Price $100, save $100
With its 93 unique samples/recorded note, this piano delivers a dynamic response totally unequalled among today’s sampled pianos. The piano was taken with microphones close to the strings to get a clear, detailed sound, and with the use of vintage Neumann microphones, we where able to maintain the warmth and acoustic character of this great instrument
Black Grand - The Concert Grand
Steinway D Hamburg Concert Grand
Black Grand Close Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-BlackGrandClose.mp3)
Black Grand Medium Ambience Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-BlackGrandMid.mp3)
Black Grand Ambience Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-BlackGrandAmb.mp3)
Piano used - Steinway D Hamburg
Size - 19.5 Gb (all three perspectives)
48 Samples/Recorded note, 16 Pedal Up, 16 Pedal Down and 16 Release Samples
K2 Script for Sympathetic Resonance available from 3:rd party developers.
Normal price $200, Group Buy Price $100, save $100
The magnificent Steinway D, recorded in a concerthall for the true concert grand experience. Three different perspectives, Close, Ambient and Medium Ambiance gives you tree different instruments to choose from.
The White Grand
The Ultimate Studio Grand
White Grand Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-WhiteGrand.mp3)
Piano used - Malmsjo Grand
Size - 5.3 Gb
32 Samples/Recorded note, 16 Pedal Up, 16 Pedal Down and 4 Release Samples
K2 Script for Sympathetic Resonance available from 3:rd party developers.
Normal price $139, Group Buy Price $69.50, save $69.50
Used and proven by many, many musicians, composers and producers, both on record and on film, White Grand has proven its case: The Ultimate Studio Grand! This is not a piano that is meant to sound as a true acoustic image of a "real grand piano". It has been processed to work in a mix, straight off! Use this one for pop/rock/jazz/gospel or anything in between, and I can promise you that your in for a real treat!
Here's some user comments:
"The White Grand is the best piano sample I have heard. It sits beautifully in a mix, as well as alone. It actually sounds alive!" - Paul Linford; film composer, mixer, programmer for Trevor Rabin
"I had no idea a sampled piano could be this good. It was as if someone told me they had a guitar, and what they showed me was a '54 Strat." - Trevor Rabin; Film Composer, Guitarist
"In the professional world we don't have time to waste in the studio, so when I need an acoustic piano, I always start with White Grand - it just works. It's presence and brightness is hard to achieve with other piano samples" - Jermey Whaley; producer, composer, musician
"Probably the very best pop/studio piano that has ever been released. In terms of its evenness and playability, and its consistency of presence from pp to fff, I think it is the best piano sample that has ever been released, period." - Bruce Richardson; composer, sound designer, music-technology guru.
White Sister - White Grand's mellow sister
The softer side of White Grand
White Sister Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-WhiteSister.mp3)
Piano used - Malmsjo Grand
Size - 5.3 Gb
32 Samples/Recorded note, 16 Pedal Up, 16 Pedal Down and 4 Release Samples
K2 Script for Sympathetic Resonance available from 3:rd party developers.
Normal price $139, Group Buy Price $69.50, save $69.50
When recording the White Grand, we also captured a second stereo pair, this time making things a bit smoother. Mind you, still crisp and clear, but a mellower side of White Grand
White Grand II - WG Bundle
The only studio grand you will need
White Grand and White Sister comes in a bundle called "White Grand II"
Normal price: $189, Group Buy price: $94.50
Vertikal - The Piano Alternative
When a Grand gets too grand....
Vertikal Jazz Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-VertikalJazz.mp3)
Vertikal Pop Demo (http://www.sampletekk.com/compare/ChristmasTimeIsHere-VertikalPop.mp3)

Sometimes a song needs something extra. Maybe the grand piano you use sounds too big, too grand. That's when you try the Vertikal!. It's an upright piano recorded in two different perspectives called Jazz and Pop. The Pop perspective is closer, brighter and the Jazz perspective a bit softer.

There is nothing like it!

Normal price $50, Group Buy Price $50, save $25
This piano was recorded a couple of years ago and it's not as technically advanced as our newer pianos, but it's still one of my favourites!
It was recorded after I've listened a lot to "Mule Variations" with Tom Waits, and I just fallen in love with the piano sound on that recording.
It sounded like a piano that's been out in the rain for a couple of days! Jussi, the piano technician we usually uses on our recordings and one of Sweden s best tuners got instructions to make the piano sound this way, but still perfectly in tune. I can tell you that this was something that he never had done before! By carefully detuning one of the three strings that makes a piano note, keeping the other two in tune, he managed to get an instrument that delivers a sound so unique and full of charm but still perfectly in tune.
At $25 I would recommend you to add this to your Group Buy, or if you already entered, get this too! You won’t regret it!!!!

What's the difference between Steiny D Close and SD Classic Grand?
Both of these are available as DVD discs for $5 more (for SD it's $10 but the sale cuts in half, no?) , but this isn't available for Black Grand Close. Is there a way of getting BG Close on a DVD so one doesn't have to download (plus would have a back up copy for those of us without a dvd burner)?
Cheers,
Worra

Steiny D Close is a subset from the Black Grand Close perspective and Steiny D is a subset from Black Grand Ambient subset.
Yep, hals price on all products!
I've added a DVD option for Black Grand Close and also a DVD option for the Rain Piano!

hi,
interested in the white grand and the black grand for Kontakt.
question:
if I buy the 24bit version does the 16 bit version also come with it?
currently my system could probably only do 16bit comfortably, but in a few months my new system should handle 24 bit...
so ideally I want both..
also is there any upgrade path from the white grand to the white sister?
ideally since the black grand is $200. would love a white grand/sister combination to be about the same
thanks

Sorry, the 24 bit version does not contain 16 bit version. You can convert to 16 bit yourself using programs like Wavelab or Sound Forge
WGII is White Grand/White Sister bundled, at $189 or $94.50 with the Group Buy!

I recently bought the White Grand Jr. and was thinking about upgrading to the the full White Grand using a direct download option... But you do not have a direct download upgrade option--can you add one?
That would be great because then I would not have to pay for shipping.

Must be the 2 orders I just placed! :D Can't resist to add the harpsichord while ordering the Rain Piano too hehe.
I am now working on a project of doing a studio cast recording of pieces from the musicals and theatrical works I wrote in the past years. Being one of them was a cabaret show and another involving a chamber orchestra with piano and harpsichord.... so the Rain Piano and the already owned WG Jr already got a place. ;)
I am working on the incidental music to a play which will be performed in March. The director needs some kind of easy listening/New Age-ish music. So I am planning to use the White Grand full version for it.
Will post something to you while I start to work at the end of this month!

Hi Worra dont mean to hijack this great thread....thanks for all the great pianos and this great sale! I need some help with my White Grand, just bought TBO as well. I run Logic 7.1 MacG5 1.8 dual 4 gig ram and I am running the EXS 24 bit and trying also Kontakt2 24 bit. However I am getting these crazy artifacts , white noise when I play a run and hold down... I get this when I use my EXS or Kontakt 2 instances with White Grand or any other piano for that matter. Is it my polyphony or something I'm doing wrong...it must be. I've also ordered the PSR Scripts from Kornel for the WG and TBO. I dont know Kontakt that well can I make adjustments so I can record these great pianos properly? I've aslo been told to look at the EXS manager to get rid of the large load in times and the whte noise issue??
Can someone help please?
higain_guitar
01-07-2006, 12:09 PM
Joey,
Here is what you should try in Kontakt 2:
First raise the number of voices in Kontakt-2 to "120"
Second go to the Kornel Script and lower the Sysload value to 4.
I also recommend only using pedal up samples. To do this you may have
to delete all the groups in Kontakt tha play when the foot pedal is pressed down. Then you will have to change the remaining groups (but leave the release samples as is) to play "always" otherwise you will get no sound when the foot pedal is down.
Doing all of this should make a significant difference.
As a last resort you can convert all the samples to 16 bit and trim the ends of the .wav files down with wavtrim (delete analog silence -60db setting) and load everything into ram (instead of DFD). I have done this too and it works very well....
Good luck!

I would like to put in a word about Mr. Larsson's products...
I use TBO, Black Grand, and White Grand. I have worked with many sampled pianos, and these instruments are in the "best of the best" category.
White Grand is a punchy studio piano that can really cut through a mix, but can also express an intimate and mellow style using some of the versions that eliminate the loudest velocity levels. It is a Malmsjo with a singing, pure tone.
The Black Grand is a nice sounding Steinway D. With 16-layers like the White Grand, it has a full range of expression and a lovely character. Although recorded in a large concert facility, it is still very present.
TBO is, for me, as good as it gets. I like the sound of a Yamaha, and TBO's 31-layer per articulation depth gives the illusion of actually sitting at a piano. I cannot praise it enough. Even though I like to load a lot of instruments into the sampler when I'm playing live, I am perfectly willing to devote half of my available memory to this piano rather than be forced to live without playing it on a gig.
Mr. Larsson has consistently supported open-format platforms, has been a generous and kind participant in our community, and has really pushed the boundaries to prove that more really is more when it comes to sampled pianos. I can't imagine the editing nightmare that TBO must have been, but Per took it on, and the results speak for themselves.
I hope people will take advantage of this great opportunity to own some wonderful tools, and to support one of our most gracious vendors.

Hi.
The 24 bit version is about 11.8Gb and 16 bit version is about 7.8.
Just added a option for TBO users to buy the 16 bit samples separately for just $30, (or $15 right now....)
This option is only valid for registered TBO users.
If you bought TBO directly from us, you are automatically registered.

Worra,
Do the 16 bitters load appreciably faster?
steve
No.loading time is about equal since there are as many samples in th 16 bit version as there is in the 24 bit version.
16 bit puts about 40% less strain on the system though.

Yep, your right! Since Propellerheads also from Sweden, I've done some stuff for them. A (very) trimmed down version of the White Grand, have to fit into RAM, among other stuff.

Hi.
No, TBO is not available for DirectDownload. Even the 16 bit version would be very big, around 7Gb. You can get the smaller version, TSO as a DirectDownload.
You can also buy the 16 bit samples for TBO on disc dirt cheap if you are a registred TBO user

I stumbled over the Studio Grand 88 the other day, a piano I sampled a couple of years ago, loaded it up, and got a pleasant surprise! This is the same piano that was used for the White Grand, but the SG88 was recorded a bit different.
8 velocities pedal up, 8 pedal down.
But, no releasesamples.....
Well, I tried using the releasesamples from the White Sister (same piano!), and it worked wonders! So here we go: SG88 Mk II!
Now available as DirectDownload for $80, Oooops, forgot.... there's the group buy!
Ok, since it's 50% off, you can get this baby for just $40!
Here are some demos:

Got a mail from a happy camper :D:
“Hello,
I purchased White Grand last year and thought I would email you
with a few thoughts.
I composed and recorded all of them music for a documentary that is
being released later this year. It's titled "Living With Purpose:
One Church's Journey." White Grand was used exclusively throughout the
entire score, and is the predominant instrument. The main theme of
the song is the piano. I've had some great comments on the sound of
the piano, especially from the director. I would send the director a
few sound samples of ideas I had for music and he definitly could tell
when I started using White Grand, it just mixed so much better than the
piano I started with. So after that I redid anything that was
using the old piano, and used WG.
If you would like to see the trailer for the film visit
http://www.nolongerifilms.com/films/lwp.html
That's the WG in the trailer music!
Another great story I have about using the WG involved some studio
work. In December 2004 I went into a recording studio to lay down
some bass guitar and keyboard parts for an album that a local artist was
putting together. The producer was a real 'old school' type of guy
who hates digital sounds. We even recorded to tape on reel to reel.
Well it came time to record some keyboard parts and I asked him if he
wanted some piano on the album and he went on to tell me that we didn't havea piano and it would take too long to find one, mic it, and all of that.
I told him that I had a pretty good piano sound on my laptop so we
wouldn't have to find a real piano. He turned up his nose and told
me how much he hates digital pianos and how it wouldn't fit with the
sound he wants for this cd. So I just politely asked him if he would
mind just listening to the piano because I would love to hear his
opinion on how it sounded. He was kind enough to just listen.
I was out in the performance area of the studio and started playing
the WG for a couple of minutes. I couldn't see the producer, who was
in the control room, but I knew he was listening. After some playing,
I stopped and waited to hear his comments. after a couple of seconds
of silence, over the intercom came "Sounds Great! let's record!" :)
so WG was used all over the album. The artist is BettySoo, and the
album is "Let Me Love You" and was just released yesterday. www.bettysoo.com
Just wanted to let you know how great I think your piano has been.
And I just purchased the Vertikal yesterday too, so I can't wait to
hear what fun I can have with that! Thanks for your hard work.”

"These Black Grand Halion samples work great. I love it."
Mike Zepponi
“First of all I wanted to thank you for your outstanding work on the amazing collection of sampled pianos. It speaks of both highly musical and highly technical talents on your end and it has become a very powerful musical tool in my arsenal. My name is Jochem van der Saag, am a Dutch producer/arranger/programmer operational in Los Angeles, work on a lot of big pop records (Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli to name a few) with the likes of David Foster and such and have been blowing people's minds with using your amazing products. So far especially the Black Grand has been a source of inspiration alone. I just got TBO in and again have been blown away by the musicality and sonic depth of the instrument. These are true instruments, not just sampled emulations of a never-to-be- achieved reality. So thank you and please keep up the great work.”
-Jochem van der Saag
"I'm using the White Grand all over "The 4400" series on the USA
network. Your pianos have become my "go to" samples" - John Van Tongeren, Composer
“Got the Black Grand. Wow! A sampling masterpiece” - Grant Olsen
“Love it! (Black Grand) Thanks for your excellent work and the obvious love and care you have for
your virtual instruments.” - Roger Barnes
“Received it today, installed it tonight. EXCELLENT SOUNDS. I think this is the best, most usable piano sample I own (and I have many). I think I will use the "Vertikal Pop" on most of my rock songs, and I think the "Jazz" will fit very nicely into quiet, new-age kinds of things.” - John Hagewood
“I must say that the Upright model, which I've had for a while, is one of my favourites at the moment” - Graeme Douglas http://www.graemedouglas.co.uk

Hi Mario.
Your BG has been shipped, probably about 6-7 days ago. What happene was that we became swamped with orders, (highest discount was reached after 4 days, and we had like 100 orders in 5 days), anyway, now were on top of things and are shipping as the orders drop in, maybe with 1-2 days delay.
Your package should have arrivived, but give it a couple of more days. If nothing happens, contact me at per2sampletekk.com, and we'll sort things out!

Really, this is my reward! To hear the pianos I sampled used in such a great way!!!
Frankie just sent me this small demo together with a mail:
"“I received WGII today and I am really really impressed!
I have been looking for a bright, punchy, percussive sampled piano library THAT SOUNDS ELEGANT for quite a while.
White Grand has the EXACT piano sound that I am looking for, thanks so much for making this wonderful library!”
"I did use both pianos, WG is 1st and WG Sister is second (no sexual discrimination here but the tone of WG Sister does serve better as the 2nd piano :-P )
Actually they blend very well together, at least in this piece. And I didn't do a lot of things in the mix too, they sound too good out of the box already! I only used a very small EQ shelf to help positioning both pianos... you know, 1st piano have higher strings facing audience, while 2nd piano have lower strings facing audience. Plus a small chamber convolution reverb."

Hi Frank
The upright piano used for the Vertiakl was recorded using two different microphone settings. One close, that the Pop and one a bit more ambient, that's the Jazz. On the full DVD Vertikal, you get both perspectives.

First of all a big thank you for the excellent group buy offer. I have now finally a wonderful piano at my disposal for an unbeatable price.
I have a question. I've unzipped all the files of the White Grand and if I'm not mistaken I have to follow a few steps to be able to use the White Grand in GS3.
The pdf file "How to make WG GS3 file" states at number 4 that you will now have two new files, “WGGS3Files.rar” and “StrippedAudioGig.rar” ; I have ProcessedAudioGig.rar
Does this mean that I don't need to convert the file for usage in GS3?
Thanks for your help,

Hi Worra,
I have a technical question for you and others that might give me some hints about it.
My TBO doesn't sound good(the sound is often digitally distorted) cause the ATA-133 MAXTOR 80 GB HD in which I put the library is too slow and old to manage the library.
This HD is inside a USB 2.0 box and is connected via USB 2.0 to my laptop.
I'm sure that the problem is the HD cause when I use TBO (under Kontakt 2)the cpu meter is always at the minimum while the HD meter reaches often the maximum.
I'm planning to buy a Western Digital Raptor and a firewire box, do you think that this would solve the problem?
My laptop is a AMD-Athlon-M 2500+, 1GB Ram, internal HD Hitachi 7200 rpm 60 GB, Windows XP optimized for audio, Esi quatafire 610 connected via firewire.
Thank you,
Federico

Hi Frederico
It's very hard to say something without actually checking your system. I can assure you, however, that there are no distorted samples in TBO.
I think that your harddisk are a problem, but I can't figure out why it should produce digital distortion, but maybe it sounds like that, but is something else?
Anyway, I'd recommend that you get a new, faster HD. TBO, and many other large, sampled instruments that uses diskstreaming are very demanding.
Suryaman
01-27-2006, 07:46 AM
Don't worry, I know that samples are perfect, the problem is in the HD.
I wanted only to know if the Raptor(which is a 10000 rpm HD with seek time of 5ms) connected through a firewire box could be a good choice or the firewire won't let to exploit it at its best.
Anyway thanks for the fast answer,
Federico

My TBO doesn't sound good(the sound is often digitally distorted) cause the ATA-133 MAXTOR 80 GB HD in which I put the library is too slow and old to manage the library.
This HD is inside a USB 2.0 box and is connected via USB 2.0 to my laptop.
I'm sure that the problem is the HD cause when I use TBO (under Kontakt 2)the cpu meter is always at the minimum while the HD meter reaches often the maximum.
Hi, here my 2 cents :
Your pb sounds strange because K2 cut voices almost without any distorsion when the HD overload. Anyway, here is some things to consider :
- K2 CPU meters is not always consistent (doesn't take into account other tasks), try to increase latency to see if your pb stay.
- USB2 interface use more CPU than firewire (almost x10) so it's definitively a good decision to move to FW
- Try to optimize your ram load increasing instrument preload buffer and play with the DFD setting.
Raptor will definitively solve HD speed problem, but beware the noise...!
I play TBO from a dedicated (internal) 7200rpm HD without any pb.
Hope this help.

Thanks for your help Laurent! Very appreciated!
I am going to try your suggestions.
I still use DFD, but maybe I have to set it better following your hints.
My latency is set to 4ms and above 4ms I hear it.
As for the noise of the Raptor I will use a silencing box, anyway I read that raptor is a silent hd.
Thanks!!!
Federico

I realized that there where no upgrade path for people who bought the direct download Vertikal Pop, but now there is!
Vertikal Pop users can now get the Vertikal DVD, that besides the Pop perspective also has the Jazz perspective, for $89, but since there's a group buy on, the upgrade is $44.50!
Check out the details here! (http://www.sampletekk.com/products.php?cat=27)

We realized that there where no upgrade path for White Grand to WGII, but now there is!
You can upgrade to WGII from White Grand for $60, and since the group buy still is on, you can, if you have White Grand, upgrade for only $30!
Check out the upgrade here! (http://www.sampletekk.com/products.php?cat=25)

Per,
What is the shipping time to NYC??
I was about to order today when I got concerned since I am moving on the 14th.
Which address should I use - the current one (for arrival before Feb 14) or the new one (for arrival after the 14th).
I figured that the black grand close and the white sister are the only two things of yours that I DON"T own!. Might as well get them now.
thanks
Ed

Sweden to US usually takes 5-6 days. Add 2 days since that's what it takes for sales to clear from the company that handles our credit card transactions.
If you order now, they should arrive before the 14:th without any problems

Hi Worra,
I purchased the Giga version of Reniassance Flutes (Download)
I'm having a dificult time downloading the .zips... server keeps resetting connection. I'm on a T1 and thought this would be sufficiant.
I also sent you a direct email.
Can I maybe change my order to the hard copy or do you have other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Toby

The concept when making BOB some years ago, was to make a library that would blend in with other libraries. BOB also has double recordings of every instrument, so all articulations are recorded twice. This way you can use two trumpets without triggering the same samples.

Woow, got my Black Grand and its mini version in the mail box today!
I am really impressed with the detailed programming of the BG too (with all those different velocity mappings). That's very useful for me, especially after having so much fun playing constant fff on the White Grand :D ... so now my fff sounds more mellow on the Black Grand (with program #1)
Thanks Worra... again!
Cheers
