Recording problems

When I try to record under sonar XL/ Win XP I get alot of hiss.

I tried to bunndle all the power sources cords around the sound card/sound card inputs but still there is alot of noise.

Any ideas?

Check your mixer for channels such as microphone that are turned up. Mute any channels you\'re not using.

I either work with a microphone or the line-in to record so I need those up. Another thing is that I seem to get the midi affecting the line-in...wierd stuff...

What are you using for a soundcard? Also, do you use an external mixer? Many of the microphone inputs on some soundcards are quite noisy.
