Okay, so I finally got rid of my rack of EMU E4XT Ultra and E5000 samplers and have gone with a full-boat Giga Studio setup. Why didn\'t I do this years ago! Okay, so I did this some time ago but just discovering this forum!!! :-) I am a Sales Engineer at Sweetwater BUT before you lash out at me, I really do know my stuff (or I wouldn\'t be there!). I have a great deal of real-world experience and knowledge to provide in this forum, but am also here to learn as well.... I hope to contribute to information like what\'s down the pipeline of not just Giga software, but also compatible hardware and anything else related. I do have inside information and sometimes well in advance.... so I\'ll help where I can and learn where I can.

Anyway...just wanted to say hello to the group and introduce myself. I have an extensive background in engineering, production, and performing....... Can\'t wait to learn about what others are doing here!

Hello Brad,

Welcome to the jungle, dude. You will find some of the brightest and most creative minds on the planet here. It won\'t always be pleasant but the culmination of opinion and frustration level tend to bring out some heated and brilliant debate. That\'s a big part of what makes this forum with its moderators and contributors special. I look forward to your insightful posts.

G\'day Brad, I see you\'ve been using the sampler I almost bought instead of Gigasampler. At the time, I couldn\'t find a better sampler, but now... images/icons/smile.gif

I\'m looking forward to sucking various useful pieces of info from your brain. Hope we don\'t leave too many cavities...

Well Brad, since you\'re in tight at Sweetwater (and not ashamed to admit it) I\'m thinking maybe you could swing a NS users special through sweetwater! We could buy everything through you images/icons/smile.gif

Nah, in all reality welcome. You\'ll find the Libraries page gets the most action, and that may be where you\'ll spend most of your time. Enjoy!

LOL -- well, just because you work at Sweetwater doesn\'t necessarily mean you have all the answers ... LOL ... come on now! There are alot of gents here who are DOING IT, meaning, seasoned professionals working in all facets of the industry.

Not to mention, plenty of times i have felt like my \'sales engineer\' has been reading from a spec sheet when i call.

I REALLY hope you guys are not recommending the Aardvark cards for Gigastudio anymore ... last time i called my salesman tried to sell me a mac (which they always try to) and told me that Aardvark is the best card for Gigastudio ... well... considering their (aardvark) driver support is obsolete, i wouldn\'t use their name in the same sentence as Gigastudio.

Above all ---- there is probably alot you can learn from this forum. And in turn, enable you and others at Sweetwater to better serve their customers when it comes to issues concerning Gigastudio.

Enjoy your stay.

Amen about that Aardvark driver! I bought the darn thing becasue when gigasampler 64 first came out, Aark 20/20 was the talk of the GSIF town. God, what a disappointming situation with Aardvark and GSIF.

You\'re right, there is a lot I can learn from Giga at this forum being I am farely new to it as a user. But I do have an incredible background of experience on the professional front... I\'ve been making records and doing production for Radio and Television for about 10 years, I toured as the keyboardist for Andrew Lloyd Webber\'s \"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat\" as well as \"South Pacific\". I currently am just starting the works of producing a live album on a weekly basis and am about to start the works on putting in a live television feed at my church for on-air broadcast.... so I\'m in the field too :-) Out of curiosity...who is your Sales Engineer? Macintosh computers are great, you need them for your ProTools rig :-) I\'m both a PC and Mac guy.

As per the Aardvark, it\'s still the best driver out there BUT not for WinXP since they still do not support it. However, based on my experience, WinXP just isn\'t that great (yet) for Giga anyway. I think in time it will be. Personally, I have a pair of Delta 1010\'s as well as an Audiophile Card I use for Giga and Nuendo. I\'m getting ready to install a third Delta 1010 mainly for tracking. I\'m taking the live tracks and putting down some new keyboard stuff before flying everything into my HD3 system for mixdown. Personally, I prefer the M-Audio cards... The Aardvark\'s do provide lower latency as well as the RME cards, but I just like the sound of the M-Audio stuff myself..... of course, using an Allen & Heath GL3300 40-ch console helps that too :-)

I really like the MOTU stuff, I\'m actually one of the top MOTU guys out there... but honestly, I\'ve never personally used this with Giga. I do have a few clients though that I have setup systems for them using the PCI-324 series products with no complaints.... Personally, I really wanted a 96/52 card with a Yamaha 02R/96 and Nuendo but I just don\'t have the room right now... have to wait until I get the new house built ;-(

I agree with the take on the Delta 1010s having a superior sound. I use these units and I have done consultation visits with both David Kahne and Mark Isham and they both use Delta 1010s with their Giga rigs for their sonic quality and reliability.

Just stay on top of the driver updates and let M-Audio know about any issues you have.

Brad,

Ease up a bit.
your claim to be one of the \"top motu guys\".....

whoa big fella.

Me think you unaware of who lurks in this forum.
This is not musciplayer- the land of the semi informed loudly expressed opinion.

I have seen you get slapped down in a few other forums for this exact same lack of humility and tact.
There is far more for you (and me for that matter) to learn here than contribute, that much I am certain.

You will in all likelyhood pick up a few sales from hanging here and I certainly do not begrudge you that.
May I humbly suggest that you will attain a higher level of respect (and therfore mo sales) the less you make grand claims like the one above.

You may want to start downloading the demos these guys post up.
Not to mention the original compositions (with incredible virtual orchestrations).
and read every post by KingIdiot.

The level of visitor in this forum range from complete beginners to genius level composers.
Most of the top library creators are here.
Guys who were with nemisys and WROTE the program stop in.
Eric Persing as recently shown up. (big whoo hoo!!!)

I read this forum everyday (more than once a day). I learn something interesting everyday.
I seldom have anything of value to post and I would dare say you would get your feelings hurt in resume/tech talk competition with me.
I am humbled everyday in this forum and I am simply greatfull that it exists.

Read more than you post and you will be gratefull too.

(take this all in the most postive way. Sort of a \"dude, chill, these are heavy cats)

Welcome......Brad!

Well I\'ve still got 3 E4X\'s and they still sound great but do not compare to my 3 GS\'s. In fact, they are great for editing and sample offset stuff, If only Giga had the E4 programming ease and capability.

I like Midiman Audio cards for GS, I have an Aardvark 24 and it still works fine but you have to load the preset each time which is a hassle.

I am going to give you a hot tip: We need a commercially available PC GigaProduct thats priced right and performs. 160 voices.

e.g. 2+ Athlon with 1 gig Ram, video, modem, 80 meg drive and a SILENT cooling system. Now this would be a hot seller for you if you could bring it in well under 1000.00.plus soundcard. You might sell lots of these.

hey all, i am new to this board too and just getting the hang of things...

i am seriously considering getting a giga sys. i am a mac user with dp3 and a 2408mkII. i have a mtp-av as well.

so, if you would be so kind as to point me in the direction of a pc that would do the trick for giga (it would be dedicated to giga and word processing) please let me know.

i plan to use the midiman 1010, but i am also curious about the tascam 822...or any others out there.

from what little i have read i gather that there are lots out like me...mac users cum pc users, so i am sure in the maze that is this board i can find some useful info.

thanks all. you may e mail me directly too...

Hey Brad, welcome to the forum!!

You probably don\'t remember me, but I think you are my sales engineer!!

Be sure you check out the sample libraries forum, it has the most action around here. Anyway glad to see ya around, so is the Delta 1010 a fairly low latency sound card? I\'m thinking about using it with windows 2000.

Later
