We'll be exhibiting at the NAMM show in Anaheim this coming week - January 18 - 21.

I would like to invite anyone that is attending NAMM to come by and visit. We have two locations in Hall A - Booth #6721 and Booth # 6919.

We'll be showing some new things and it looks like it's shaping up to be a great show. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there.

Hey Gary, don't forget to take photos and screenshots of everything you demo there! Some video footage would be nice, like the videos of you and Tom presentig GPO that Sonicstate has in their website, (http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=2289) they're a classic!

A friend and I were going to go tomorrow but it turns out it will cost us $150 each as none NAMM menbers to get it. This does not compute. Used to be they couldn't give enough passes away....oh well.

But I need to know well before hand. To get them now I may have to stand in line for hours (and miss some scheduled appointments).

Thanks Gary, I appreciate the thought. Times have changed it seems. I should have checked things out beforehand and asked around my usual suspects. Good luck and hope you have a great time.

Why are those interesting things always "overthere" and not "overhere"?

Could somebody going to NAMM go over to the Roland/Edirol booth and ask them about Vista x86 and Vista x64 drivers? They still are not available (and I guess, technically, neither is Vista, but I digress...)

Wish I could be there to see G.G.'s new products! They sound exciting.

Hello Gary,

I hear and see in some favorite musical magazines a lot about the NAMM Show but it is far away and expensive for us Europeans :(
Can we expect you this year on the biggest show in Europe; The Music Messe in Frankfurt?
That would be very nice. I think a lot of fans would like to meet you there.)(~
Last year I visited the exposition and was looking for you but you were not there as far as I know.

Greetings,

Johannes

Well, now a more serious post....

I was at NAMM today, and got to meet Gary, Tom H, Jeff H, and a number of other folks....

WOOHOO!

~~

This is my 3rd time at NAMM, and the sheer staggering variety of music-related "stuff" there never ceases to amaze me :D

~~

I had the opportunity to see the new interface and HEAR the sound pan and change depth as a given instrument was dragged around the soundstage - truly quite remarkable!

I read through some of the other threads, and want to make a couple of comments about this new interface, since there seems to be some confusion.....

This interface is not simply a replacement for Garrritan Studio or the like, it is literally a VST sample PLAYER, similar to Kontakt player, but with some capabilities and features under the hood that simply are missing or not possible in Kontakt. In his usual deliberate fashion, Gary did not reveal exactly what those features are, but from talking to him and the folks at Plogue, I was able to get enough information to assure you that this technology will leap-frog handily over the competition. I'm not sure how much I can say further except that this will indeed be worth FAR more than what our generous Mr. G and company choose to charge for it, and that there are MANY possibilities that this new player opens up - not the least of which is the concept that Gary's development will no longer need to be tied to NI's timelines.... (nuff said!)

~~

I also had the delight of giving the current development version of the Steinway a workout, and I have to say you are all in for a treat! I played some VERY demanding stuff, and only got it to "chirp" a couple of times (the polyphony was set at 128). Assuming the CPU could handle a higher polyphony, I'm pretty confident that at 256 this piano could handle just about anything one would throw at it. There are indeed 3 pedals, just as in a "real' concert grand (although only the basic sustain is hooked up for the show) There are also controls for mic position, ambiance (room convolution?) and such. The interface is clean and uncluttered. I was also impressed with the ability to create a smooth crescendo on this instrument - in most sampled pianos I can hear the crossfade between velocities, and it is NOT realistic. Not so with this one - as far as I could tell throught the headphones (amidst the constant din of NAMM Noise) the samples react in much the same manner as a REAL piano.

So there you have it.... we are all in for a treat when these come out (and shall find ourselves with both a lighter heart and a lighter wallet! )(~ )

Best to all,

Styxx

Hi all!

The show is half over already. We're having a great time at the NAMM show. The Steinway Piano, the Gofriller Cello, the Concert and Marching Band library and the new Drag and Drop interface are being well received. I am very pleased with our new sample player. We have been demoing the Steinway and the Drag and Drop GUI for two solid days and not a glitch. The new engine is rock solid! )(~ There is so much we are going to be able to do - things I have been dreaming about for years are going to be possible. :)

I have not had a chance to explore the show as I have been mostly in meetings charting the course for the next year. New alliances and relationships coming as well as strengthening of the existing relationships. Some nice surprises coming this year.

With my new handheld device I can access the forum wherever I have a celllphone signal. So I have beed checking in now and then and am quite impressed with some of the names you have chosen for the new sampler. Typing on those little chicklet keys is somewhat of a challenge.

It's been great to meet so many people on the forum and looking forward to seeing many more of you in the remaining two days of NAMM.

All the best from NAMM

Ah, Gary....

You are TOO kind :D

It was a pleasure to finally meet you in person, and to see the exciting new stuff you have in the works. I hope my humble words have given folks a taste of what is to come, and will encourage them to wait patiently (and save their money!) for when the new products arrive.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to join you!

Gary, we already have groupies!

Stephanie, I would be the bass player, so I guess that means I would get to mix their first album. :)

Hi everyone,

We just finished up with the NAMM show. This year at NAMM was the best year yet (and certainly seemed like the busiest for us).

I had a chance to check out some of the show and will write more about the show when I return and post some pictures. There's some good things coming and the industry keeps on progressing and getting better. I'll be in Los Angeles for another day and then back to Orcas Island on Tuesday.

Seeing many of our forum members at NAMM was a real treat and I wish to thank those forum members and users who took the time to visit us.

All the best,

Gary Garritan
