Fantastic! I guess I know what I'll be using my 25% from the Giovani GB on.
Thanks for the advance heads-up on this. I am continually impressed by Bela D's great attention and communication to customers.

Great list of instruments and a stunning demo. I'm going to have to look into the market price of kidneys and liver tissue. There is no way I'm going to be able to resist the 'Order' button on your website any more.

Truly beautiful...you've outdone yourselves again. And I like it that you've added those bonus patches.

This looks and sounds fab , but who played the Didgeridoo?... I hope this one is a proper Eucalyptus one and not a bad sounding Catus one like EW used....
Actually it should be several Didgeridoos as each key has it own harmonics and drone patern.
I look forward to hearing more.
Simon
Thanks to all for your kind words!

Simon. This is an authentic Eucalyptus Didjeridoo from Australia tuned in B. A really bass one. Amazing sound. I hope you like it when released.

Dear Stephen,
I appreciate your comments and your concern. Tari is not available at the moment to respond proper. I will speak for him. The mp3 heard is an "out of the box" beta demo using one instrument and one articulation out of many.
Please allow us the opportunity to post the official product demos when ready. It is our belief that you will find this product to be, not only the most affordable on the market, but the most playable.
Best,
Francis Belardino

Does the instrument have the exagerratedly trebly cracking in it - or is it an artifact of the processing/conversion to MP3?
You mean when it switches to the more intense vibrato?
Bothered me too, but let's wait for the official demos of the finished instruments.
I also agree about the subtle tone, it's really beautiful!
Can't wait for this library to be released. :|:

Hi Tari,
That is great to hear, and indeed like many here I look forward to seeing the official release and hearing more demos.
Thanks for the reply

The demo is a hit and miss with me. Does the instrument have the exagerratedly trebly cracking in it - or is it an artifact of the processing/conversion to MP3? The crack when it makes the tonal jump should be a bit less harsh - perhaps a bit of compression or eqing could improve it - otherwise it sounds simply wonderful. The subtle tone is amazing, such expression - the crackling tone is a bit too harsh for intimate work tho.
The 'cracking' sound is not neccesarily heard on a duduk. It depends on what reed is used in the recording. Most Duduk players of traditional music use softer reeds, while in Hollywood soundtracks, reeds sounding like this are very popular. I personally prefer a reed that can do both.
I don't mind the cracking - I just prefer it to be a bit less trebly initially and having the treble increase with the volume as on a real dudek that has the trebly crack. There should be a "mellow" crack region where it is just starting to overmodulate.
We'll just have to see what the final result is - could be that a velocity edit solves the situation.
Stephen
Hi Stephen. In the last version that we are developing the transition between the soft sound, the reed sound and the vibrato is smoother. As you say just like a real duduk. This demo was done with the first beta version.
Regarding the sound I wanted to capture the sound of Djivan Gasparian at Gladiator. I love that strong sound of the reed.

Just as well you didn't say that you were hoping to catch that "cinematic sound." ;)
Things might have got messy there... and we could have had our own forum bloodsports :p

At the end of the day, it is up to the user to decided and they may do so with freewill. Bela D Media will guarantee the ultimate in tech support and customer care. We have been tested over the past four years with the end result being that of 5-Star reviews, user accolaids, etc. Our products are sold world-wide and we continue to expand.
When compared to similar products, many cannot touch the level of sampling and scripting sophistication within Anthology. The price is a mere fraction of what others seek.
We are very proud of our motto... Authentic. Advanced. Affordable.
Wishing you all the very best,
Francis Belardino

I have absolutely no doubt that this will be an outstanding library. I might as well send Frank a blank check for this, and wait for it to arrive. :D
Tari, this is just wonderful.
I agree that it is MUCH too early for us to be making any sort of judgements and that based on only one tentative mp3. I'll take the wait and see approach on this end. Also, it would be best if each user had the ability to adjust his (or her) own crack. :)
Which it seems that is what Frank is saying/hinting at.
Anyway, if experiences with past Bela product and especially with Celtic Winds are any indication I fully trust that you guys are going to have another gem on your hands. Really looking forward to this and am excited by the list of instruments.

Don't mean to seem like I am picking nits - but I would really like to get an idea of how this library really sounds
Our advice is to wait for the official demos and/or go to a music shop and demo it when released.
now for me it is a matter of how playable they are (how well they are programmed)
If you know of any other wind libraries in the $200.00 and under price range that do what is posted below, please let us know. We would be very interested. We will not share information about ASW at this time but here is what you will find in the first version (ACW) ...
Advanced Scripting
Offering the composer real-time control is our top priority. By means of advanced scripting technology within Kontakt 2, coupled with Bela D Media’s specialized programming staff, remarkable real-time control has been achieved.
Multi Speed Legato Control
Automatically activated depending on the tempo of the users performance. The user can change decay and legato. The default values have been carefully chosen to achieve smooth musical transitions.
Male and Female Vocal Breath
By means of the sustain pedal, the user can trigger vocal breath samples in order to create a true wind performance.
FX
All patches are assigned the 24-bit Redeemer IRF. The user can alter the amount of ambiance manually or via any assigned MIDI cc#.
Auto Default Key Switching
If set to auto default, the program will activate the default key switching scheme
Manual Key Switching
If set to manual, the last selected key switch will remain active until the next key switch is selected.
Auto Drone Mode
If set to automatic, the drone will start as soon as you play a note and will sound for as long as you play in legato mode.
Manual Drone Mode
If set to manual, the user plays the drone via a#1. If latch is activated, the user you can release the key and the drone will still sound. To turn off the drone, press the key again.
Bellows expression
In Concertina and Accordion you can switch between the 3 velocities via Mod-wheel, emulating the bellows with amazing results.
Noises
A multiple array of instrument noises has been sampled to achieve true sounding performances. The user can alter the volume for each and the frequency of occurrence.
All Articulations
The user can play all articulations that a live performer can play in real-time. All possible combinations of articulations are at your fingertips.
Speed mode
The user can vary the speed of samples via Mod-wheel or any MIDI cc# chosen and all in real-time. This will allow the user to adjust all ornamentations and/or vibrato to tempo.
Threshold
Adjust velocity sensibility depending on your keyboard and feel.
For myself - I will have to find someone who has a copy that I can audition before I spend any money on it (an opportunity which might not present itself.) I will never buy a lib based on a demo recording again (nor someone else's opinions!)
Feel free to check out the competition but we are confident that we will top them all. Here's hoping the official demo's will win you over.
Best to all always,
Bela D Media.com

Well, I've had some time now to live with Celtic Wind and let me tell you- IMO that lib raises the bar for programming and playability. The bagpipes are insane- they almost play themselves. Seriously, I have yet to find a library that does what it does via intelligent scripting- you barely even need to use keyswitches to make it work well in real time. I imagine this coming installment will either equal it or raise the bar even more. I'm exited. Since you're a wind player, Stephen, you're set- just play the stuff yourself. For the rest of us- thank gawd for libraries like these! :|:

Simply beautiful - the first demo has a realllllly nice sound. Well done!'
How do these discounts work? Do you get discounts for getting multiple libraries at once, or do you only get them by buying one at a time? Also are these discounts only available from the Bela D website, or do they apply when buying from Bestservice.de?

Hi Tari and all at Bela D,
I just listened to Anthology Celtic Wind and noticed the Uillean Pipes phrase is very much like a phrase by Hevia, who I am sure you have heard of. I have two of his CD's and his use of the pipes with a large band (inc Didgeridoo) and the dance grooves he creates are awesome.
The pipes in your demo made me think of the track "Tierra de nadie) I hope I remember that right! I think it is on Bushindre reel. Also you might like " Al otro lado"
I am really looking forward to using both these products in my work in the future.
Regards
Simon

Do you have a dealer who might have this in the Seattle area so that I might check it out when it is released?
Stephen
Once they have it in stock, the closest would be West LA Music.
How do these discounts work?
If you are a user of the first volume, you will receive a discount on the second volume. The offer is only available via direct sale. We may give allowance to those who have purchased the first volume via authorized vendor and purchase the second volume directly. Of course, a valid product code will be requested, etc. We will have official terms posted on the day of release.

Alright - so if I understand correctly there is only a discount for people who already own the first product. Not to those who buy a bundle? Just need asking :)
Bela D Media
03-07-2007, 10:09 AM
It's just a courtesy discount to say "Thank you" to our current users. It won't be an earth shattering deal. As far as a bundle offer, we have not crossed that bridge yet. We'll keep you posted.

Sorry for the dumb question... if I purchase Celtic Wind from AudioMidi will I still qualify for the Subscription Savings for future volumes (purchased from Beladmedia.com) or does this only apply if I buy Celtic Wind directly from Beladmedia.com?
Here is the response I got from Aaron Dirk...

Yes, but then he only qualifies by going through BelaDMedia for the subscription
EX:
If your friend bought Anthology Celtic Wind through audioMIDI
He would qualify for the subscription deal through www.BelaDMedia.com when he wanted to get Anthology Spiritual Wind
But if he buys Anthology Spiritual Wind through audioMIDI, he would get it at their normal sale price
The subscription deal is only handled through Bela D Media, via product registration

Hi Aaron. What was confusing to me was the term subscription - as this implied an ongoing "plan" or possible commitment (buy in) to future releases. It sounds like you're using this term more loosely, however. Is that correct?
pax

You have it right. The "subscription" is a simple "Thank you" discount to our users. Our vendors have nothing to do with it. When you buy the first volume, you will save a small percentage off the next. This is only valid though beladmedia.com.
Yes, you could buy the first volume though a vendor, register it and then save on the next volume but, the next volume has to be sold via us. Again, all discounts/promotions are in-house and our vendors cannot honor them.
