i need to choose a mainboard for a p4 1.8 but i have few options here in Brazil .
itŽs too easy to find asus but with Sis chipset like 645 dx ,650gl.can i use these chipsets for a DAW or iŽll loose my mind.p4 only works great using intel chipset?
ddr 3200 will work in a mainboard supporting only ddr 2700 or less?i mean iŽll have some benefits using 3200 without mainboard support?
thanks for any help
btw:if necessary iŽll change for an amd processor but only with a really good chipset (NO VIA in anyways)
once again thanks

I have SIS chipsets in all my machines, both GS ones and the DAW and there are no problems, at least not chipset connected images/icons/smile.gif

Thank you Simon.
could you tell me the chipset model please?

My DAW is on an MSI 645DX motherboard which uses the SiS 645DX chipset. I will probably change that to a 655 when that comes around. My GS machines are on SiS 735 and SiS 745 for AMD CPU\'s.

thank you <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">I was very close to ordering a SiS board, and I got an email from Echo tech support telling me absolutely not to get a SiS motherboard.
He said it will not work with Echo sound cards.

So...check with the manufacturer of the sound card(s) you plan to use before committing to a chipset!

I\'m back to the drawing board. I don\'t know which Intel-chipset mobo to get.

Hi
I have a Giga PC with an ECS /SIS650GL combined
with Egosys waveterminal 192X. No problems here.

I\'ve alos been looking into the SIS655, but
there seem to be some problems utilizing the
full potential. The dual DDR333 only equals
(at best) the Intel 7205 dual DDR266. If try
to run DDR400, which the SIS655 actually is
designed for - you get a worse results!

I think Echo might not work with older SiS chipsets. But Gina20 works fine on my SIS735 (ECS motherboard) machine.
