I was wondering if you could setup a PC tu run , say, Cubase and Gigastudio using only ONE soundcard with 2 outs (left and right)...

Yes you can, with a soundcard supporting ASI + GSIF at the same times, a couple of such cards are available, like Creamware and RME

Echo Mia is perfect for this. Mia has two real outputs and eight virtual outputs (internal). The eight outs show up in Giga and Cubase the same as a real output does. Echo provides an eight channel mixer GUI you use to digitally mix down too the two real ones.
