View Full Version : keyswitches in Kontakt Player 2

Dear Esteemed forum members. I would be very grateful if someone could offer me a solution to this: Kontakt Player 2 is working fine for me on an Intel Mac - a joy, in fact. Except for one thing: the coloured keyswitches on the piano keyboard are in the wrong place for some instruments and I can't find the right places! If I bring up 'instrument options' for the particular instrument I find that the key switch default key is C-1. If I try to change that, everything is put out ... so that is obviously the wrong route. Any suggestions?

What do you mean, "in the wrong place?"

Note that keyswitches are found in two different places, depending on the programming set you use...

"Standard" programming places keyswitches one octave under the lowest note of the instrument range (possible the same octave, if enough space is there).

"Notation" programming places keyswitches in the lowest octave, starting with MIDI Note #0.

Make sure you're looking in the appropriate directory for your needs!

I'm having a similar problem, or maybe the same problem. Its not a big deal, but my problem is that I can't get the KP mini-keyboard to display any other instrument than the top one in the rack.... so, I can't see the ranges and keyswitches for any but the top instrument. Everything plays fine and i pretty much know where the ranges and KS's are, but it would be nice to be able to see them. can't seem to figure out how to change this.

Ahh, I know what you're talking about there...

But unfortunately no, I've never figured out how to give "focus" to a particular instrument in the rack, either!

This should be quite simple... click the orangy, dark yellow, light brown (whatever color) section anywhere around the top half of the particular instrument. You can't click on the the bottom part where the Garritan logo shows.

Is that doing the trick?

Ahh! So you have to click anywhere in the orange "frame" of the top part of the instrument module.

Not very obvious, but I'm glad I now know it! Thanks!

You have to click in the very narrow part of the rack just above the Name.

Strangely this piece of gui madness becomes quite normal after a while. ~|

No problem at all.

I suppose it's not so obvious, but having had K2 for awhile now myself, it's become second nature.

Aww tfishbein got his explanation in while I was futzing around with screen captures, and editing screen resolutions and suchlike.

And I was sooooooo proud of myself for knowing something vaguely techie that Markleford didnt know. :n:

When will I ever get such a chance again. ?? :D

No........really.........that is fine........I have almost finished sulking now. :)

Besides.......it is very dangerous to delete posts in this joint.

Before you know it etLux will be demonstrating further proofs of his Kansas theorem, and Ern will post pictures of the 3 stooges at the drop of a hat.
