Mod wheel/volume and French horn 2 topics

I am new and use Noteworthy composer for the Garritan tool. winxp etc.

Is there a trick so that all the modules are loud to begin instead of quiet?

Secondly, for me the French horns sound like english horns/oboes-
has anyone else had this experience?

Otherwise this is a easy tool.

I have been using Edirol-HQ for three years and I finally have some Garritan sounds via the Pocket Orchestra that is included in Dimension Pro. I was shocked to hear the French Horn. All I have are solos in the Pocket version. My wife overheard it down the hall and she said "I'm not impressed". What can I say? The Edirol-HQ French Horn is so royal and proud an instrument that I have writen several pieces for it to proclaim its glory. Playing one of my favorites back with the Garritan instrument just doesn't do the piece justice. :(
