Ouch! - at least it wasn't a Steinway! )(~ Personally I don't care much for Bosendorfer's - but ouch in any case!

I hope they at least recorded the sound it made as it crashed - preferably from 3 mic positions.

I dimly recall hearing about a supposed sample library that resulted in the complete destruvtion of the piano by the time they were done... did I imagine it?

You're quite right - I think it was called Piano Attack.

They conveniently happen to have a "just before" picture and a "just after" picture. What are the chances of a guy taking photographs just as that happens? Hmm....

This has been on the BBC news programme tonight and they said that the photographer was the new owners who were so excited at receiving this piano which was paid for by donations by locals. So I would say nothing dodgy happened here..

I forwarded it to my wife, who still has vivid memories of working in high school selling fruit for the choir to buy a new $10K (1980 dollars) piano for their program. She felt really bad for them.
It's not surprising someone was there taking pictures. As hard as they worked to get the money, they were excited to see it. And pretty much everyone has, at minimum, a camera phone...

Yea…too bad it wasn’t a field recorder instead of a camera.:samurai:

As I said to sarah, if one of the guys was the wrong side with something that heavy it could have been a fatality.
I think the news is going on about it too much to be honest, the comany involved is very respected.
A piano on the move like this is like a big motorbike once it starts going you just won't stop it....

It is sad, but is it the end? Read the last paragraph (just above the picture of Laurel and Hardy). Do we have a credibility gap here????
