One of my systems is not working flawlessly. I\'m still having a lot of clicks and pops and some strange blue screen messages. Can anyone point me to an optimization guide??

Thanks,

Colin

Hi Colin, there are two very good guides over at Nemesys;

http://www.nemesysmusic.com/pdf/pc-optimization-guide.pdf (\"http://www.nemesysmusic.com/pdf/pc-optimization-guide.pdf\") - relates to PC\'s in general and;

http://www.nemesysmusic.com/pdf/optimizing-xp-and-2k.pdf (\"http://www.nemesysmusic.com/pdf/optimizing-xp-and-2k.pdf\") - is for Win2K/XP

Also try; http://www.tweakxp.com/ (\"http://www.tweakxp.com/\")

http://www.pureperformance.com/ (\"http://www.pureperformance.com/\")

http://www.musicxp.net/ (\"http://www.musicxp.net/\")

Sorry, just noticed that it\'s for 98 specifically at the end there. Hopefully the sites might help though.

Cheers, Scott.

Check out my web site at www.albertorizzoschettino.com (\"http://www.albertorizzoschettino.com\") for tutorial videos about windows 9x optimization. Pretty old but still kicking hard,

Best luck,

Colin,

what\'s your chipset and soundcard? (and perhaps other specifics). i recently added a new machine, and am having occasional pops. my initial thought was that it was a clocking problem, but now i\'m starting to think that it might be another culprit, as my original GigaPC (intel 815/wavecenter pci) still seems to be purring along.

my new machine is an SiS chipset, also w/ a wavecenter pci & WIN98SE. as far as i can tell, there are no IRQ issues, but i\'m a mac guy so all this PC stuff is still pretty new to me.
