I just picked up my first Giga PC and am looking into buying a soundcard.
All I need is optical out (into my MOTU 828 on my Mac), so the Wavecenter PCI looks like a pretty decent bet.
Any opinions, alternatives?
Thanks

The wavecenter is a great card. The built in 2x2 midi is really stable and you can pick up a motu midi flyer cheap (<$30) on ebay to get the other 2x2 midi for all four channels of Giga. I\'ve installed at least two dozen of them and never had a problem...but if you had a problem...the Frontier folks are friendly, knowledgeable and easy to contact! If you want more i/os the Dakota is about $100 more...also a winner in my opinion. Cheers, jc

Yeah, USB midi doesn\'t work on PCs...seems to work okay on Macs, but that system I described to you is so much better. Bulletproof. Cheers, jc

Thanks, JC
I have a follow up question.
Would you recommmend avoiding USB midi boxes? I actually have a MOTU USB Fastlane laying around and was hoping I could use it.
Thanks
