It's broken....I've asked wherever I could to put pressure on NI to fix it. In the mean time there is a very convoluted workaround. Open the player as a standalone and load a impulse by dragging it into the conv window section. Save that as a multi. Then back to pluigin mode, load that multi BEFORE loading any additional sounds. That should work.
It really is a shame that something that could be so cool is just sitting there waiting for a coder to fix what is probably a syntax problem. Whoever does fix this will probably say" I fixed it in only 20 mins!" while we wait years for this to be resolved. Oh well.

It is no longer broken. It has been fixed in KP2.2.3 (Stand alone, VSTi & DXi).

Nickie, I'm afraid it's NOT fixed in 2.2.3, at least not in the MacIntel space. It doesn't work on VST or AU mode in either Cubase 4, Finale 2008, or Sibelius 5.

Sorry, I should have been more precise. I didn't try to drag&drop into the VSTi/DXi, but they did fix the Presets, so now you can save your presets in Stand alone and load them in VSTi/DXi.

Ah, yes, that DOES work, and that's the workaround...

Well it works in standalone on PC, but does not work as a VSTi in Finale 08. Though I did notice they fixed the display problem so you can actually SEE the whole conv. display area., but you still cannot drag and drop an impulse into the window as you can in the stand alone version. Is this a bug or is the Conv. IR available only in stand alone mode?

You can create the effect you want in the standalone mode, SAVE MULTI, and reload in the plugin mode. But it DOES work.

You don't have to save as a Multi anymore. You can save the Convolution Preset directly. That's the new thing in KP2.2.3.

The question is how? I don't see a way to do it... Which brings me back to my original question- where's the documentation for Convolution Reverb. K2 has probably the sparsest doc. set I've ever seen.

Actually, for K2 the documentation for Convolution is in the Operation Manual, p. 167.
I agree, that the documentation for Garritan owners of KP2 is rather sparse, though.
To save a Convolution Preset, click Convolution | Preset menu | save preset... (at the bottom of the menu).

Hi, Keith
--This is totally OT, but I wanted to point out that at least for me, an odd thing happened when first opening your thread.
I see the jpeg image you have of the Kontact Player, but above that is an image which won't load--And which tried to cookie my machine immediately when I first opened your post.
Being curious, I looked at the properties and went to where this Xd out image was:

That seems to be for your site and page where the Kontact image is - But that wasn't needed also for your post, just the KP2 image.
Odd - but having a cookie added just for seeing a picture may not be the best situation. Maybe that can be fixed?

This might be because I changed the link shortly after posting. The first time I posted the link was wrong. Sorry about the confusion...

Nickie - You're right about the bare-bones coverage of the KP2 features in the GPO manual. I'm wondering whether the anyone has info from other KP2 manuals that could be made available here? Or even, given that the subject here has been the effects and the convolution in particular, whether the relevant section in the manual for the full K2 is relevant for KP2? If someone thinks that there's enough useful info in the K2 manual for KP2 users, maybe it's worth paying $10 US to buy that.
I decided a long time ago that I didn't need the full K2, 'cos frankly I'd rather someone else, who loves the mind-numbing job of recording and preparing samples :wow:, do the job for me. I want to play them, not make them ... and I reckon that's the case for most people on this forum. Getting it right is an art, and I'm dead impressed when I'm using beautifully assembled sample sets.

I emailed Native Instruments about the KP2 and convolution files and was told that was a featue of Kontakt 2 and not the player. There are some impulse files that can be used but not the convolution files. I have used the output mixer and seem to get the reverb and things to work. Am I misunderstanding everyone here? Are you saying that in Sonar or Cubase or whatever, that this output panel has no effect on the sound of the instruments unless you jump through a work-around hoop?

No, it works as intended, but you have to create some presets in advance in the stand alone, since you cannot drag&drop IR's to the plugin.
