Hello,

Ok I was just thinking of buying 3 computers.

1 for samples.
1 for gigastudio and the notation software.
1 for recording.

I would want to somehow send the sound digitally to the recording pc, this way I would not need to use analog connectors. Which I would think sending it digitally would maintain perfect quality. Also, I have no idea how the midi software would control the gigs on the other pc ,that is another problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What about getting 3 Hard Drives?
Just a thought.

Well I thought about it, but I am not sure if that would work, besides I only have room in this crappy rig for 2 hds and a cd drive. But would that work, is it just a seek time issue posed on hds that slow down performance? Because I would think that a 2.4 GHZ proc would be able to handle the midi notation app, gigastudio and recording at the same time.

A better solution would be 2 PCs. One for Notation and recording, the other with Giga and Samples.

Of course, the setup you choose really depends of what you want to do musically.

We use 3 pc\'s sync\'d via Digital Timepiece. Nuendo on one, samples on second, sequencing on 3rd. And there\'s actually a 4th pc in there that controls an outboard Mackie Ultramix automation for one of the analog consoles. This arrangement works well, especially at tracking because I don\'t have to switch views on any screens, can see everything at once etc.

Laylas on 3 of the pc\'s. Samples on pc 2 usually feed from adat optical out of one Layla to optical in at Nuendo Layla.
