I use GStudio with cakewalk on a 833 MHz Laptop. with .5G RAM. I use Echo indigo as the soundcard and edirol-pcr50 keyboard controller which has a built in midi interface.
Even with GS 96 I only get 64 voice polyphony, which is expected given the speed of the laptop harddrive.
But the problem is this: When I am plying back fast passages in an orchestral piece, the audio just stops even if the max polyphony is not used.
I tried varying the audio buffer size but that doesnt help.
Could this be due to the processor speed? I just want to be sure before buying a new computer.
thanks very much for any suggestions
