Hi all,

I thought I would share this new track with you.

It has Spritual Winds Dizi and Shakuhachi Spectrasonics Atmosphere (bass pads) and RMX for percussion along with some Apple loops in the middle also for percussion.
Sectrasonics Atmosphere also for the strings.
It is called The Emperor's Daughter.

Please note that I cannot post a direct link as I use the Wimpy player for music on my site. You will need to scroll down to see it.

Thanks again

I am amazed that on a pro forum I have to almost draw a map, surely folk can navigate a website by themselves? I never get problems on other forums!

Hi Argitoth,

Thank you for listening, and sorry for forgetting to say that I had not put it in New compositions.

I will tweak the strings as I just played them as chords, maybe they are a bit heavy as chords? All of the percussion is loops. The deeper drums are from Apple World Loop library and the other is different section of loops fron Stylus RMX.

Maybe the bass pads are interfering with the string frequency?

Can any confirm that for me. will take a tweak to this a bit later.

I have made more twekas to the original and now have a shortened version without Percussion.

Hi Argitoth,

Interesting comment from someone who needs to hide behind two identities.

And certainly is not a constructive comment about the track posted, just a vile rant at my kit and composing style.

Yes I do have loops. I have heard many of them used in TV and film and to be honest I don't care what you think about loops or anything else.

Well you don't need to be rude about the track or the kit I use.

For the record the only loops in this track are the percussion. Originally from Apple loops and Stylus RMX and now in the final version just Stylus.

To tell you the truth your composition as a whole doesn't exactly impress me. Looking at your studio page I notice you have a huge amount of pre-made loops and some pre-made synth stuff. It seems like you haven't even invested into a good synth. I really question your ability to develop as a composer and sound designer.

How can you really create something amazing if you don't know how to create your own sound? How can you develop as a composer and as a sound designer?

A little harsh there dude:wow:

I agree.

There are constructive ways to communicate criticism.

I deal with conversation in this virtual world by trying not to 'say' anything to anyone that I wouldn't actually say in person.

If I don't like something, I think it's best to either keep quiet or attempt to put a positive slant on it.

Especially when you read his earlier posts in the thread. Rude people bug me. If the piece is bad then say so. don't bitch about someone else's studio kit.

Elan's earlier post on the original version:

Some what a change in attitude.

Typing as I listen:
-At the beginning I feel some vibrato in the first few passages would have made it feel really organic and good. Is it due to the library you couldn't easily add vibrato where you wanted?
-I really like the electronic elements going in and out.
-Between 2:16 and 2:19, is that passage midi programmed or is it a pre-recorded passage?
-It sounds like the strings are hard panned to the left and sound badly equalized, but I do like what the strings are doing.
-The ending feel kind of cut off, but it loops really well. That's a bonus for game music.

Overall feeling:
-I could hear this in an RPG, a movie, or maybe even a strategy game. I'd like to hear what you feel it could be used in. The mix of instruments is great, very ambient, but active at the same time, good background music.
-I hear lots of originality in this piece such as the electronic percussion and the fact that there's a very limited use of hand percussion.

Sorry, I didn't say much.

Yep you certainly did that for me.

You caused bad feeling and that is the problem. as this thread has been ruined by your lack of thought and rudeness.

I was going to rant some more, but decided not too.

Simon, mate,

I wouldn't bother with this guy.

It's a pity that this had to reach 3rd page and make masimon come and post here... :(

You know that I like your music, right? ;)

Something that you don't know: I personally have a bit of trouble with loops. I have difficulty getting away, and keep repeating myself. So I actually avoid loops altogether. You got away, with different sounds, different loops etc, which is something I have trouble doing, so not everything is easy for everyone. And I really like those strings pads, that don't strive to be realistic, but just pads, and simply work!

On a bit of feedback, the instrument around 2:15 that enters, sounded just a little bit loud.

But I really enjoyed the track and well done!

Cheers for sharing it with us.

You’d be surprised how many have multi accounts. Mainly those who have been banned for one reason or another. Take note of the “New Member” who is so quick trash a competitor’s product or to speak highly about only one company.

In any case...

Chin up Simon! Keep doing what you’re doing and allow no one to stand in your way.

Thank you Nick and Frank,

It is such a shame that folks have to put other folks down because they don't measure up musically themselves.

I am also upset that a nice peaceful forum turned into, by an aggressive and petty individual, not to mention pathetic.

I hope the account is terminated by Admin.

Thanks for your support it is much appreciated.

You don't need a developer giving you baby talk. Anyone is more mature than that. Can you "let go" of this incident?

There's absolutely no point in having a desire to rant on me again. I bevieve the flaming would have gotten really bad if you didn't post anything in the first place.

Anyway, my words can't affect your abilities as a composer. You already know that, I don't need to say it.

Edited to make it clear that this is the content of a PM received from Elan Hickler this morning after Nick Harvey and Bela D offered me their support.

After all the hooplah, I really wanted to hear this piece.

It appears to have been taken down. Sorry to see that. I'm sure it was nice.

Tom,

It's still there.

Go to the link on the first post, then click on sounds, then new compositions, and it's towards the end. "Emperors daughter" I believe it's called.

Hi Tom,

As nikolas said it is still there and infact a second version without any percussion has also been posted.

because I use Wimpy player I can't post direct links.

if you click the link in my signature and go to the Sounds page then scroll down then new compositions then scroll again.

I hope that helps.

Simon.

Hi David,

Thanks for listening and I am glad you like it.

There is something very special about the Dizi and Shakuhachi that just gives that ethereal sound and leaves you feeling warm and happy inside and gets the hairs on the back of the neck standing up.

When I received this library and I had been listening to the demos on Bela Ds website before I had a play through the instruments I found myself being rather emotional and had tears of joy in my eyes.

How many of us can say that about a sample library?

SimonI know what you mean, it does the same thing to me. I have that library, but don't yet have the full version of Kontakt. I hope to be able to get it soon so i can start getting into these instruments, they are amazing.
