Well, um, after buying a new system with 2gig mem and the usual stuff, including XP prof, I find I can\'t even load Gsampler 96, much less run it. Is there something I have to disable in Win xp?

You probably need to download the XP version. Its not a patch but a full install.
Hopefully thats it.
