Hi,

I'm in need of sampled russian folk instruments, mainly the balalaika, but percussion as well. Basic instruments that form a russian folk ensemble. If not loops and such. Anyone knows?

Thanks in advance,

Guy

Try World Traveler in AKAI format for balalaika and zither.

As to percussion, it is exactly the same as elsewhere in Europe (ie bass drum, h-hat etc), as far as I know only in Ukrainian music there're specific drums that you won't see (hear) elsewhere.

The guy I posted above can record a session for your production to your needs which I thought might be helpful.

I have been searching here in the UK and can't find a sample library as such.

I have an Emu CD called Old World Instruments which has Prima Balalaika, Contra Bass Balalaika, Prima Domra, and Segundo Domra. All 4 instruments have a sustained pluck, tremolo and muted pluck articulation. There is only one velocity layer per articulation but it sounds very good. The version I have is for a hardware sampler, but I believe they sell the same sample set translated to the Emulator-X format.
