View Full Version : GVI & Waves Gold on same iLok?

Hi there all-

my first post here- advance apologies if this has been covered ad nauseum! I have the Waves Gold Bundle on my DAW & am looking at adding GVI. I understand that GVI uses the iLok (correct me if I'm wrong), as does the Waves Gold bundle. Can I put the GVI license on the same iLok without worry of it interfering with or writing over the Waves authorization?

thanks in advance.

Hi Greg,
GVI actually uses the Syncrosoft Dongle. It won't interfere with your waves license, but it will require an extra usb port, as the two are not corss-compatible (i.e. iLok won't take a syncro license and vice versa).

Hope this helps,

Belbin

... actually, one more question regarding that...

Does the Syncrosoft Dongle come with GVI or is that something I have to buy separately (like the iLok)?

thanks,

Mine came with & ordered from a GS3 promo special.

Ditto. I don't even know if tascam offers a version without dongle for those who already have one. But for the cost of GVI (at least for GS3 users), an extra dongle could be worthwhile to have around in case you want to split your syncrosoft-protected apps across machines.

cool- thanks for the replies. I'll get it ordered tomorrow! I'm upgrading from vr 2.5. It was on a dedicated Gigabox that just died. I'm hoping GVI will play nicely with Sonar 6 PE!
