That is indeed impressive! When i was a small child, i wanted to be a triangleplayer when i grew up, but unfortunately i didn't have what it takes.

hehe, what could be worse than an out of tune triangle? Maybe an out of tune gong?

Smile..., oh nooooo :)
I remember you asked me the same question some times ago..., when I started another thread about Triangleplayers... :D
Steph, I am always astonished at the enthusiasm, which a Triangleplayer brings along... :)

Hi Gunther!
Since I don't remember you answering in the last thread I thought that it was the perfect opportunity to ask again :D

Interesting thread... I'm thinking that triangle tuning sound is a nice SFX sound, perhaps to go along with the tuning of the timpanis.

That looks to be an "Abel" (Able) triangle. Probably the best triangle in the world. Although I cannot view the link I would say tuning a triangle especially during performance is a matter of striking different areas of the instrument with different weight of striker. I believe there are some triangles out there with a type of "slide" that changes the tone somewhat on the bottom bar. Eh, what do I know ...:p

http://www.grothmusic.com/online-store/scstore/graphics/alanabel.jpg This is most likely the world's finest triangle, the Alan Abel series of Professional Triangles! Created by Alan Abel, Principal Percussionist of the Philadelphia Orchestra for over 20 years, this triangle is wonderful both for an educational environment, and in any professional setting. The Alan Abel triangle has a crisp, clean attack, and beautiful overtones. Try it, you'll like it. Used in many professional symphony orchestras around the world. Available in three models. This 4 inch model is ideal for more sparsely orchestrated music or smaller ensembles. The 6 inch Symphonic Triangle is perfect for all around playing.
I love them!

Don't forget the 12-inch model, perfect for hanging off the back of the chuck wagon.

Ha! So happens I have one of those. Call my family in from pasture every evening at supper time. Loud as a fire siren!

Ah! But do you keep it tuned? That's the important question.
