Hi Trent,

I was contacted by someone who heard some of your music and wants to license one of the demos you did here for a film he's doing.

I'll PM you the particulars.

The word of the music being made here is getting around. :)

Congrats,

Gary

Thanks Gary! I’ve always been astounded by how much you do for your customers - you continue to provide the people here some great opportunities. I’ll make sure I let people know how it comes out.

Thanks to all who are wishing me well. Now I want to ask a favor of you all:D

The piece he wants to use for the film is a rendering I did of the first movement of Vivaldi’s “Spring” from the Four Seasons (http://garritan.com/mp3/vivaldi-spring-6-5-2004.mp3). Since this is public domain I would be selling me performance with GPO. It’s about 3:40 in length.

Anybody have a clue how much I should ask? I did this back in 2004 shortly after receiving GPO (it was the third thing I did with GPO). I played all parts in by hand - 5 different 1st violins, etc, so about 20 parts in all.

Really i have no idea, hope you make a lot though, and have many more come your way. Congrats, and when you know what movie let us know so we can watch and listen to it

NICE!--OK, NOW I'm awake - been guzzling coffee, clearing out the cobwebs, then I saw this post about your Vivaldi being picked up for a film - eXCEllent, Trent!

You asked if anyone had a clue about how much you should be getting for this - $--? You mean, --people will actually PAY for this music stuff? - News to me! - I have not a clue. :p

Best of fortunes with this project!

Sure. No commercial project should use music for free. And nobody of us should provide free music to a commercial project - I think this would be unethical in the long term.

Do you know what sort of project this will be used for, and its financial scale? Given that it is not your own composition the rate should be between 100 and 500 USD per minute I guess.

:D I was joking, Hannes. Just a reference to how I've never made any kind of serious money in the music field.

Of course nobody would suggest that Trent offer his work up for free!

Hope the negotiations work out nicely for you, Trent.

Hi everyone. I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you out there for your support! However…

Things didn’t work out on this. It’s not a bad story or anything and I’m not really disappointed (though I would have liked to have had my music used). I don’t want to say too much about it since there is a possibility of working with this company in the future. I’ll just say the timing was wrong and leave it at that.

Thanks again for all of the well wishes and kind words. I think that this forum is perhaps the greatest place in cyber space:)
