African Song elephant sound

I'm writing orchestra parts to go with a choral piece - African Noel. I think it would be really cool to have the horns sound like an elephant. I figure if a trumpet can sound like a horse like on Anderson's Sleigh Ride, surely a french horn could trumpet like an elephant. Any ideas of how to notate that?

Wouldn't it be written Campana in aria (bells in the air) ?? with a quick cresc into sfz from 1 note to the other??

Maybe I'll just write "make a sound like an elephant here" and figure they know how to do that from their jr. high days.

You might want to consider giving it to the trombones also.
