The Gizmo or Gizmotron, invented in the mid seventies, was a device that allowed an electric guitar to create orchestral type sounds.

This is a youtube 10cc video of the inventors using it live in concert. That would be the person using it(LOL Creme) and the bearded fellow(Keven Godley).

What a contraption! Reminds me of my idea to make a key-played "brass section" using automobile horns, also in the pre-synth days. :)
