On Tascam's site they list several update patches. I presume it is only necessary to install the newest patch? Or do you have to install them all?
I was gonna take this dog to the pound before I found you guys.
Guess I'll give it another chance....
Thanks!

Hi Bill.
You can just go right to the 3.21 update.

If you're feelin' adventurous, Bill, you should spell out some of the problems that you were having with Giga, and maybe the Brain Trust can help you resolve your issues.
:D
There were a number of problems, incidentally (including some -- involving dual-core processor compatibility, for example -- that caused Windows "Blue Screens of Death"), that were taken care of in version 3.12.
Let us know whether the upgrade fixes whatever was wrong!!

Thanks guys. GS has been running fine on this computer. I only use it for occasional acoustic piano and strings and immediately print to audio. (Running through rewire in PTLe) While dealing with some PT/computer issue I removed msg32? from the startup and since then no matter what GS either hangs on the splash screen, or says "didn't shut down properly". Never does it actually boot. I always end up closing the splash screen with a "this program is not responding" message. It seems as though some remnant of a previous install is hanging out, but after visiting here I have run gigaclean and manually removed the Tascam folder and any GS3 files from the registry. Still no good.
Any suggestions? I'm about to start my third clean and reinstall.
Thanks for the warm reception!

All is good.
Cleaned out the registry, perhaps a little too thoroughly....
Reinstalled XP.
Reinstalled GS3.
What is giga-clean supposed to do anyway?

Glad to hear it's working. Giga-clean is an antiquated tool that was used for cleaning giga-specific registry changes after un-install. At some point in GS3's revision history, TASCAM noted that it was no longer needed, as the uninstaller had been improved to handle all such tasks.
Best,
