Hi there,

I am writing a piece for the brass section. I was wondering the GPO or JABB countain Bariton T.C. or Euphonium in the libraries.

I am using finale 2007. Any suggesions would be greatly appreciated.

Baritones and Euphoniums are included in Concert and Marching Band (two whole racks of both!) but not in GPO. Don't know about JABB.

As far at making a treble clef Baritone part in Finale 2007 - I just save the bass clef part as "Baritone TC" then go into Staff Attributes and change the transposition box to "Up a 2nd plus an octave" (same as Tenor Sax). Works great.

Evil T.C., me like B.C.:wow:

Anyway, the only Garritan library that has baritone and euphonium sounds is CAMB, neither JABB nor GPO have either sounds.

I agree with Raz. TC Baritone is good for educational/transitional purposes (moving a trumpet player to baritone, etc) but I much prefer bass clef for baritones/euphoniums.

I didn't know if TC meant Treble Clef or Tenor Clef, is there a different abreviation for Tenor?

Check this out, they have a Baritone Clef listed under the Tenor Clef:

I don't think i'll ever be using that one.:)

Baritone TC is for sissies who used to play trumpet and are otherwise incapable of learning the proper cleff. :D

Granted, I am a horn player and only play euphonium as a second instrument and played it in our college brass ensemble whenever we were missing a trombonist, but I can only play euphonium in bass clef and can't read it in treble to save my life, even though the horn is in treble clef 99% of the time. For whatever reason I just can't get the upward 9th transpotion and my ear to mesh with TC writing for baritone.~|

Reminds me of the pianist who only could play on a black piano.

Actually, there are some pretty good cases where T.C. baritone or euphonium comes in.

1) Trumpet player converts

2) British brass bands (almost everything is in treble)

3) Old school drum corps with horns in G (again, everything in treble)

4) You are playing something really boreing, like pomp and circumstance, and you want something to keep you occupied.

Anyway, I think knowing both bass and treble are good skills to have. I can play both clefs, but B.C. is easier for me.
