Hi,

I am ready for buying more Garritan libraries. Especially I am cruising around the solo strings.

Before I buy I wanted to ask whether there might be a christmas sale around (hint, hint :p ). I mean, at this time of the year ... just asking.

Best

I don't know why, but I don't see a Steinway sale price in our near future.

On the solo strings... even if no sale pops up, I'd recommend treating yourself to these over the holidays.

The first reply in this thread by somebody that obviously does not already have all Garritan libraries he wants. Thank you.

Dare I say that the Garritan products already offer GREAT value, as they stand in the current price? Each library, with the exception of JABB is bellow 200$! Can't get much better than that (not that noone would mind a sale... just saying).

I just spent 130$ for a coffee maker for my wife for Xmas, I think that 200$ for Goffriller is not a bad deal (and a bit of night stories for HER as well! ;))

Last year everybody was enthusiastic about the group buy, this year everybody says that no sale or group buy is needed because the price is low enough.

OK, nevermind.

Don't get me wrong, I always love a good group buy.

I was just saying in the event that no group buy occurs, treat yourself to the gofriller. It's the holiday season, so you can get away with it... maybe.

Ah, forget it. If the first five or ten posters had jumped on this and posted something like "yes, a sale or group buy please!". But obviously the community is saturated. If I were Gary I would not do a sale after this reaction, that is for sure.

There was a thread, not too long ago (a few weeks, if even more than 2 weeks) in the central NSS forums (the samples forum), with people discussing various issues and the price of sample libraries came up. That is why I said, what I said, having in mind THAT thread. I just felt weird asking someone (Gary) to lower further his prices, when it is already a steal to get his products. I felt awkward and embarassed. This is NOT personal at all, keep in mind please. I mean no insult to anyone. :)

By all means, last year I got the strad in the group buy, I would have NO problem buyg goffriller as well you know. And I have no other Garritan libraries, mind you, so there's no saturation over here.

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts regarding Christmas sales and group buys.

As some pointed out we try to keep offering good value all the time. This is better than artificially inflating prices and then perpetually having sales.

But it is fun to have a group buy now and then. Nothing beats haggling or getting a super phenomenal deal.

Group buys usually have to be arranged in advance in the NSS forum. Other developers wanted to offer a group buy at this time so I thought we would wait. After NAMM seems like a good time to have a group buy for a product or two.

In the meantime, perhaps we can do something for the holidays. Something crazy and fun - any ideas?

I am worried now Gary that by mentioning the possibility of a Group Buy you have done two things: Committed yourself to it (the forum members will likely see it that way) and more importantly choked your order pipeline from the forum for the next 8 weeks.

In any event, here are some crazy/fun ideas:

Idea #1
Have a twelve days of Christmas offer. On each day you offer a different product - not known in advance with a range of different offerings. Perhaps place some restrictions on some super deals for those who have earned them: eg on the Fourth day of Christmas all those with Strad and JABB can have Gofriller for x% discount, or those who have contributed at least 50 responses to the listening room can have an extra n% off anything on the 6th day of Christmas. Each offer lasts 24 hours only.

Idea #2
Place on your website some hidden codes that correspond to a specific discount on a specific product. Have the codes fairly transient and/or only available to be used once.

Idea #3
Post some snippets from some of the submitted samples / demos that you particularly like or you feel promote your products particularly well - ones off your demo page. First person to correctly identify the source gets a voucher to use towards a product.

Idea #4
Put together a downloadable small library comprising say two instruments each from JABB, CMB and GPO and offer a prize for the best work under 60 seconds using all the nominated instruments. Make the library a free giveaway - you choose the instruments.

Idea #5
Offer everyone free training in orchestration - Oh you've already done that! :-)

Idea #6
Pay Dan Kury to work on one piece interactively with the author in a training session with one (very) lucky winner based on any purchases made between now and the group buy.

A group buy is always a very welcome thing! particularly at this time of year (ive been looking into libraries to treat myself with for a month now!) but as someone did point out Garritan products are already stunning value for money....

I love Idea No 4 Alan! (well i love the others too but doubt they could happen!) Thats such a great idea....perhaps instead of suggesting a small downloadable library that has to be used, Mr Gary Garritan instead says on each day "you have to use "those" instruments" and right a piece within 24 hours for Gary to judge. He then announces the winner the next day and sets the new ensemble task....That would be an awesome bit of christmas fun! All in favour say "aye"!

Love Ideas #1 &#4!!!

Actually, the idea #4 is what they guys at XLN audio (the creators of Addictive drums) have done.

They offer a "demo version" of Addictive Drums with the complete player but only half of one drum kit (no toms, only snare, bass drum, cymbals and something). Also no midi loops included.

This works 100%! Their products is awesome and you can see it by using the demo. Eventually you want the whole drum kit and more options so you buy the product and you want to buy it because the public image is so nice because of this functional demo.

Gary, you already have a nice forum, just like they do, so how about this kind of product. Some demo version with ie. 1/2 octaves of an instrument, fully functional and no limitations. People can actually try and see how great your product are and after getting used to it and learning to love it, they want the whole scale and rest of the octaves.

As a happy user of Addictive Drums, I can warmly recommend this kind of user-friendly approach to offering demo versions. I was totally sold with AD's demo and bought it within few weeks.

Maybe people read stuff about sampling libraries (like I did before buying GPO) and sometimes that's enough, but sometimes you really need to try the real thing to be able to tell if it suits your workflow and if you can be creative with the instrument. And since you DO have this kind of instruments, it shouldn't become a problem to get people to like the "demo versions".. or more like Limited Editions (that are free).

I am also at a point where I am considering purchasing both the Gofriller and the Strad, already having the three "orchestral" libraries.

However, I was maybe thinking of holding off until the relase of another solo instrument to make it a "threesome".

I just need to be reassured that they are Finale-compatible.

It is my considered view that there should be a solo string group buy including the viola which will with much fanfare be announced to be released in a few weeks time. All this in preparation of designating 2008 the year of the string quartet! Hear ye hear ye!

Garritan Announces Three-Day Holiday "Go-Round" Revolving Extravaganza

72-Hour Sale Offers Unprecedented Discounts

Garritan is pleased to announce a unique three-day "Go-Round" revolving sale on its sample libraries. The various Garritan libraries will be sold at electrifying discounts, one after another, in a 72-hour revolving sale.

The Garritan Go-Round starts Saturday December 15th, noon PST; and ends December 18th, noon PST.

During the Garritan Go-Round, a Garritan library will be listed at a dramatically low price, each lot in limited quantities. Once the lot is sold out – Garritan will offer the next library, until that lot is sold out; with the process repeated until the sale is over on December 18th at noon. The Go-Round for each library lasts an unspecified amount of time – a library can sell out in as little as a few minutes (when the limited supply is sold out); or the Go-Round can last hours, prior to bringing the next library up for sale.

Libraries to be offered include Personal Orchestra, Jazz & Big Band, Concert & Marching Band, Stradivari Solo Violin, Gofriller Cello – and there may also be a few additional surprises throughout the 72-hour event.

The inspiration for the revolving sale came from the popular Woot-off. And in the same tradition, great bargains are to be had by all!

Get your trigger fingers ready, and take this unprecedented opportunity to save some real money on a Garritan library for yourself or someone special for the holidays!

We'll post more information soon!
