I learned that Boxing day was the day after Christmas where people return theirs useless gifts to the shops. It has nothing to do with Mohamed Ali!!! :wow:

HAPPY BOXING DAY!
Today Boxing Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day)is celebrated in Canada, Australia, Britain, New Zealand and other locales. It's a great day for post-Christmas sales.
Living a few miles from the Canadian border I have come to appreciate Boxing Day. In years past we would take the ferry from Orcas to Victoria and enjoy the Boxing Day festivities and sales.
During one of my trips I learned about the origins of Boxing Day. Contrary to popular belief, this holiday is not about boxing matches. :D According the oral legend the people who have much would box up the gifts they received, but did not want, and re-gifted them to those less fortunate. Another tradition was from the 19th century English custom of giving Christmas boxes containing food or money to those in need, the day after Christmas. And another tradition is that Boxing Day may have come from the opening of church poor boxes that day. It is also known as St. Stephen's Day.
Whatever tradition, this basic premise of Boxing Day is about giving.
Enjoy the day.
