Hi, everyone!
I can't wait to try out the new Garritan Steinway. But in the meantime I enjoy this sampled piano very much. I have NI AKP and Ivory but I reach out for this piano as often as I do the others.

I wonder if you can recognize this sampled piano.

Hi Jun,
I don't know what piano it is, but I know one thing:
You play beautifully!
I enjoyed hearing some more of your music.
Thanks!

Man, I love that composition and your playing of it. It sounds like Chopin meets Dave Brubeck. A mix of two favorites of mine!
I recognize that sound as well, but I can't narrow it down. 7CG? BlackGrandAmbient?

Thank you, Alan!
Wow, you almost nailed it with 7CG! Hint: it's the same physical piano.

Whatever piano sample it is... it's out of tune terribly, in the upper registers:wow:
I'm sorry to post it in low resolution audio, which is a limitation of the free soundclick account. But I swear it's the only piano that has that bell-like quality in the upper registers which I really love, and which the other expensive sampled pianos don't have.

Hi, Alan!
Change one letter in the middle and you have it!! TSO it is!! I also have TBO but strangely, I enjoy this smaller version due to shorter load times and warmer sound since the softer velocity layers have been shifted up in the mapping.
Thanks for playing this silly guessing game. I was right that someone is sure to recognize that TBO/TSO sound.
Now, let me get back to your website and listen to some more great jazz!!

Great music, Jun! I very much enjoyed listening.
Here's a question for you: Have you tried the 7CG or 7CG Jr, and if so do you feel they capture that bell-like tone in the upper register as well as TSO?

Hi Saraswati!
I'm sorry I don't have the 7CG or 7CG Jr. I might buy in the next groupbuy though. ~|

I've always loved this Brubeck piece. Trouble is, unlike the masses, I've never really loved or liked the Yammy sample (TBO).
Nice playing. Where did you get the sheet music?
JG
P.S. If you have the midi file, why not try it with the Black Ambient.... a (MUCH) more realistic piano sound?

Hi, John!
I don't remember where I got the music sheet. I memorized this piece as a kid LOL.
Yes, I also have the Black Grand Close and Black Grand Ambient. Both are outstanding as well.

Do you mean for CD recording? Or for live playing?

Not for live playing, at least not on my machine. CD recording only. The sample is more piano-like, but for playing not nearly as immediate as pianoteq.
