Here are a couple of updates for a few QLB GIGs

To all of these I\'ve added a \"legato switch\" that works VERY WELL for legato lines.

What I suggest is playing the first note in a line, then stepping on the sustain pedal and playing the rest of the line you want to sound like \"one breath\", then releasing the sustain before you release the last note.

This sounds great on the saxes IMO http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif

I\'ve also added Mod Wheel controlled filters to some of the instruments. For \"expressive control\"

Enjoy

Okay, stupid semi-newbie question:

How do you use .art files? I find them in the quicksound directory, but they don\'t do anything when I try to load them. Do I also load the corresponding instrument from QLB, or do something in the editor?

It\'s too bad that I can\'t RTFM. Help?

I can\'t wait for Dave\'s Tutorial... I hope art files are covered http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif

Load the corresponding instrument into Giga Edit, then select Load Articulation file from the file pull down menu. Load the corresponding ART file, and then save the gig...

and then
viola. or trombone...or sax..whatever http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif

Definitely Nick.

I\'m really curious what you think.

I\'m not so sure the sustain pedal switch was the best idea. I run into problems with it with VERYVERY fast passages. Notes tend to act like the hold./sustain pedal is down even tho the sustain defeat switch is selected. Any ideas?

Anyhow, I\'m curious to how you feel about my \"tweak service\" idea. I have plans to make my own release triggers for QLB It would be an option. I\'d love to share as a \"service\". I of course cant share these for free, for copyright reasons.

Also.

Definitely use a little bit of reverb with the legato switches. Obviously shortening the release times can sound synthy. But for faster lines its completely needed.

release triggers would help here.

Tweak Service anyone? http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif

I\'ve some other major QLB tweaks, but I\'m saving them for a bit. I dont want to overwhelm you guys or myself with the tweaks, but I will say that I found something that could really help legato lines. I knew it was in the editor, but never thought about how to use it with legato phrasing and how it could help.
