We recently started a series of \"Meet the Artist\" interviews. The main purpose of the series is to provide an online venue in which Northern Sound members may interact with prominent film/TV composers, expert GOS users, forward thinkers, and otherwise extraordinary people of interest. This series gives members an opportunity to ask guests questions about composing, arranging, orchestrating, GigaStudio, how to get a certain sound, tips, industry information, etc.
Composer Jeremy Soule was our first guest. Jeremy is an incredibly gifted and talented composer in film, television and interactive productions. Jeremy\'s work has been acclaimed and appreciated by millions of people around the world. He is an avid user of GigaStudio. In fact, he has a couple of dozen computers dedicated to GigaStudio (soon expanding to 48 computers).
You can read the interview at the following location: http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum18/HTML/000193.html (\"http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum18/HTML/000193.html\")
Thank you to following members: ninriggs, composer22, Francis Belardino, Simon Ravn, jubal, dwdonehoo, A_Sapp, Damon,PeterRoos, MartinL, PatS, stenoerting, scf3, gungnir, RickD, and KingIdiot. Jeremy really liked your questions and was impressed by the level of professionalism displayed.
My questions to the forum are these: Who would you like to see interviewed in the near future? Is there anyone on the list at http://www.garritan.com/endorsements.html (\"http://www.garritan.com/endorsements.html\") for example, who interests you? Some have already agreed to be interviewed. We are open to all suggestions.

On a serious note; I know he\'s not on the list but I would love to see an interview with Bill Brown...

Kral is on here alot...but we never really interview him except for that ballet scene he kindly shared with us.
Why not extend the honours to someone who frequents and supports this forum?

Urgh, I missed the whole interview thing.
Oh well. Some interesting answers there!
I want a d8b too http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif
I would really like to see a Chris Beck or Robert Kral interview as well!
Thanks Gary,

Jerry Gerber is a great advocate of the virtual orchestra and a fan of GOS. I just saw/heard a talk he gave and conversed with him briefly. I am sure he would have many opinions to share.
Ray Colcord would be an interesting interview, and with his off-kilter slant on things, funny as well.
Jeremy Soule said, \"If my trumpet is on the right, I want the sound off the wall on the left to really show itself.\" Wanna know who is the master of the mix and can do this reflective stuff really well? Bill Brown. He is the master of the big Hollywood mix. True, he uses a lot of live musicians, but he also does a lot of virtual orchestra and it all sounds like the same mix, which I know he does himself (he told me so). Maybe he would reveal more in an interview than he would reveal to me. I study his mix technique and sound A LOT, and I almost have it nailed, but I want to learn MORE. http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif His music is outstanding as well. So BB would be my first choice. To see what I mean, go to http://billbrownmusic.8m.com/ (\"http://billbrownmusic.8m.com/\")
I am visiting Chance Thomas and his studio this weekend, and I will ask if he would be open to and interview. His site: http://www.hugesound.com/ (\"http://www.hugesound.com/\")

http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif Heck yeah, now THAT would be an interesting interview.
I could see it now, like on WWF, when the guy being interviewed smacks the announcer! http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif
HA
Donnie
Yes, Bill Brown, that would be great..
I\'m still curious about that low brass in RTCW.... http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif

Maybe after Brown and maybe one or two others, I would like to hear from...Nick Phoenix. No seriously. Some of the things I have heard in his demos are very fine. Why he has not scored a movie is beyond me, but he has done a ton of trailers. I for one would like to pick his brain. Howz about it Nick?

composer22, jubal, Thomas_J, & Lancelink,
It looks like you\'ll have the guest you wanted. We are pleased to announce that Rob Kral has gracially agreed to be our second guest in the GOS \"Meet the Artist\" Interview.
Rob Kral is a well-know film and television composer and has worked on such projects as the the acclaimed series \"Angel\". He is a long-time member of the Northern Sounds User Group and a regular contributor.
Post your questions to the thread at: http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum18/HTML/000199.html (\"http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum18/HTML/000199.html\") Once we gather all of your questions, they will be presented to Rob. We will then post his response in interview form.

Thanks Gary:
It was not only the right polite thing to do, but he\'s a good example of an \"in the stream\" commercial composer in the biz, as well as someone whom I believe regularly adds benefit to this forum...
nice

I second that! His demos sound pretty wonderful to me. It would be good to talk about his compositions and musical interests a bit more (or at least hear his answers to the questions of others). And I\'d like to know if his music is available (outside of \'throwaway\' trailers), and how far away he is to breaking into major film scoring (even how one approaches such a thing).
I would actually put him at the top of my list because I\'m interested to know how someone traverses that \'road\' while they are still on the uphill climb.
Robert Kral would have been my first choice; but he\'s about to do it already (no questions from me, but looking forward to it).

zquarles, dwdonehoo, Simon Ravn, lex:
It looks like you\'ll have the guest you want. I spoke with Bill Brown and he as agreed to be a guest on the GOS \'Meet the Artist\' series. We will let you know when to get your questions ready for Bill.
The question period for Rob Kral will end Wednesday. Questions for Rob may be posted here: http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum18/HTML/000199.html (\"http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum18/HTML/000199.html\")
After Rob Kral, our next guest will probably be Dave Govett, the most well-known and respected Giga-guru. Looks like we have a fantastic line up. Mark Isham and other composers have also agreed to be our guests. Jeff Rona, Ray Colcord, Chris Beck and Nick are also good suggestions.
Personally, I would like to have KingIdiot as a guest. KingIdiot is incredibly brilliant, a never-ending source of amazing ideas, and he freely shares his talents with this forum.
There are more people added the list at http://www.garritan.com/endorsements.html (\"http://www.garritan.com/endorsements.html\") Let us know if there are others you would like be interviewed and to present your questions to.
I hope this is the start of a successful and informative series. Get your questions ready.

I\'d like to see Dave Govett interviewed. Where this idea of Giga came from and where he sees it going?

That\'s great!! I was just listening to some cues of Bill Brown, and I\'d love to get a few questions in for him.
I\'d LOVE to have Mark Snow interviewed! He\'s amazing!
