First of all I like to tell you how impressed I am with many of you composers.

It is truly incredible how one can create with samples.

Well I use to sell Audio/Midi gear and heard about Giga. Well I played with it and love it so I bought it myself. I am very new to all this, and have not much knowledge of GigaEditing.I stayed up late one night and came up with this.

Here is my first Demo: http://davidalamein.tripod.com/ (\"http://davidalamein.tripod.com/\")

I used Thomas J flute and want to say thanks for the free download.

I would appreciate your help, as I would like to get to your level, understanding all this stuff surely is going to take a long time to learn.

Anyway thanks for yout time.

Thank you for listening

I only used Ultimate Strings and some AO. I wish I had the money to buy a better string collection, but I am trying to get by with what I have.

I do not know how you guys do it, but I wish to learn and get better at this stuff like most of your demos. I find it very hard to create with strings, to make then sound more real.

Anyway, your comments are much appreciated

Dalamein,

Nice tune, i like the layering of the strings you have done...really nice flute..

You get that off Thomas?

Is it available for download still...?

Keep up the demos, if they are anything like the one on your website they will all sound great..

You need Winrar to open it.

How did you get Legato so smooth?

I have Thomas J Bamboo and it does not sound the same, did you tweak it in Giga?

I think you should put on your Website that your Mp3 is 3.5MB as I get peefed to wait and wait for a download with 56K.

...You do have talent if this is your first Demo! Very Good!

Youre welcome

The strings were tricky, and it was hard for me to implement legato. I had to know when to release the notes so that they could flow into the next, then I increased and decreased expression( I still need alot of practise, as it is hard for me)to hide the loop points in US. Otherwise I like the Viola on US alot.

I have a very limited library, and hope to master these first before buying more..

Thanks

Thanks KingIdiot!!

I just looked at another topic that was posted recently, and was very happy when I saw it. It was KingIdiot that explained his enthusiasm for older libraries and layering strings. Thats basically what I did in this piece. To me layering and adjusting volumes and placing a little more or less reverb on each indicidual instrument, you can get a very smooth string section. I did realise that by using different libraries and layering them together you make up a whole new sound palette. Therefore, I do not see my old libraries as a restricition, but rather make with what I have and create a whole new medium.

hey sounds great,

I think a little bit of more definition on the violins could be achieved by mixing in the dry sound little more, or panning a little more to hard left.

It sounds great, and there is a general \"blanket\" to the tone which works great for the song, but I personally think there needs to be jsut a slight amount of definition to the sound on each part.

maybe layer in the AO solo strings and only use the piano/expressive or piano/sordino sample, mix them in jsut a very tiny bit over the top for \"placement\" and \"definition\". Really lightly tho, jsut for an added seperation, almost to where you dont hear it.

also some of the legato is a bit abrubt for the slow movement IMO. Go into the giga editor and set EG Mod to attack control and set a controller to adjust attack in real time. It will help.

other than that its a great sound for the piece.

As I said I like a bit more stereo spread/space definition, maybe a run through a stereo spread enhancer might help.

oh and by the way, the piece is great http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif

WOW!!!

Thanks King. I will try this and see if I can get more of a seperation with the violins. This is what makes it great, is to have someone with experience share with the inexperienced.

Appreciate your help

I have been experimenting more with US and AO, and am finding more expression and seperation.

KingIdiot pointed out some very useful features in the GSEditor. My problem is just understanding the technical details of Giga.

I still want to improve the strings with these older libraries as much as I can.

Anyway thanks for listening.

Dude, I listened to the Demo again and it truly is very emotional, I had to get my girlfriend to come listen. Have you done any more since?

About the Piano, did you add reverb, and tell me, what, reverb did you use for strings- very interested in Reverb!
