Sorry to lie about that one, but I need a quick answer about who should I buy my computer from.

Soundchaser or Carilion premade computers or do it myself - not really worried about cash just reliability.

Reply\'s or emails would be greatly appreciated

Buy one from Jim Roseberry at Studiocat (www.studiocat.com). He is the author of Purrrfect Drums for Gigastudio and does a great job on his systems.

Geez Franz,
could get kind of messy when you want to change the clock battery http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif

Bizarre...

Since no one else is saying anything, let me just say that your subject header crosses a line, IMHO...I mean, I think the bait and switch header routine is stupid to begin with...but to say something that is derogatory in nature about another forum member for no apparent reason other than to draw attention to your question is in very poor taste. Just my two cents...I\'d hate to see this become acceptable behavior in here.

Regards,
Scott

Scott, I second that.

I also beleive using a fake header saying a derrogatory comment on another member is not acceptable behavior in this forum...

You\'ve been a member here long enough to know it is not acceptable, this is not a place where just anything goes to get attention.

Just my 2 cents also,

Franky

Soundchaser definitely gets my vote. I\'ve purchased three systems from them so far, and have had nothing, not even a tiny little thing, to complain about. A fair price, a solid computer, and great support.

Well, I don\'t have one built by either company, but I\'ve never heard anyone say a single bad thing about SoundChaser. I\'ve traded a few emails with them... great, great support (and great prices on the CDs, too).

I\'m about as novice as they come, so I bought mine fully configured from Soundchaser. Figure I paid about $500-$600 more than building it myself and it\'s been solid since taking it out of the box. Very good after-sale support trying to solve some GigaStudio bugs related to saving performances. Worth the extra money to have a single place to turn for support IMHO.

Mine was specially configured to be super-quiet and it really worked. See my posting in the hardware section of this forum, http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum4/HTML/000676.html. (\"http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/Forum4/HTML/000676.html.\")

To be honest I didn\'t understand the topic to be condescending towards Thomas at all. I thought it was meant as a joke. Anyone who actually understands what it is about has likely already formed her own opinions on the matter, and this to me serves more as a humerous reference to that whole somewhat comical mess than as an actual persuasion to a particular viewpoint. And with the date of the post being April Fools Day, I can\'t say that I think it was inappropriate in the least. I think it\'s a shorter jump in logic to assume that this was intended to be funny than it is to believe a person would be dumb enough to pick a fight. And, not that it\'s necessary in this case, but for me the intention is usually more important than what is actually said.

Thanks a lot guys, but have you heard anything about Carillon Audio Systems.

Any expert users that can give me a little insight.

\"I think the bait and switch header routine is stupid to begin with..\"

100% AGREED. These type of messages should be ignored.

Aye carumba...yeah...that might be the case. I didn\'t see the connection til you pointed it out. That would certainly put it in a different context, but taken by itself (which is how a lot of people will wind up reading it), I\'m sure you can see how that could easily be misinterpreted. Either way, the bait/switch thing still annoys me!

Scott

The order of topics changes as new posts are made. Originally this post was directly under Thomas\' String demos. I understood immediately it was a joking reference to get attention. This did not make me happy, but I never saw it as a put-down, just a way to focus attention.

Give the guy a break-this was his 9th post. I\'ll bet he never does it again...

I don\'t think baited topics should be permitted. Sure it IS fun, but I felt a bit peeved when I clicked and started reading, not because of this thread specifically, but it seems this is happening more often.

This thread is a good one, and raises a good question. It SHOULD have an appropriate topic title so we can all know what\'s inside. It would help us all.

Credibility is not something I want any of us to have to question when looking at the topics list on the front page of this Forum.

I don\'t believe the topic was referring to Thomas\' april fool. Most of us here know what it\'s referring to...
